Welcome to the website of the Alle-Kiski Valley Seventh Day Baptist Church. We are the Baptist church that's, well, a little different. Like many other Baptist churches, we hold the Bible to be the only infallible rule of life and faith, being without error in all of its teachings. Like many other Baptist churches, we hold to those long held Christian beliefs as summarized in the various historical creeds and confesstions, including the Apostles' and Nicene Creeds and the London Baptist Confession of 1689. Like many other Baptist churches, we feature expository preaching, going through Bible passages verse by verse, chapter by chapter, book by book, so that we can be exposed to the voice of God and apply His instruction to our daily lives. How then are we different? Through our diligent searching of the Scriptures over the centuries, we have come to the understanding that the seventh day of the week remains the Sabbath Day in which we are to bring our offering of praise and worship to our God. Although we adhere to the seventh day Sabbath, we do not approach the Sabbath in a legalistic manner, rather we enjoy the freedom and liberty we as Christian believers have in such matters, and extend that same courtesy to our Christian brothers and sisters who have come to a different understanding in regards to the Sabbath Day. (Colossians 2:16-19) Nor do we base any of our beliefs on the writings of an end time prophetic figure, but rather search all things by the Scriptures to see if these things be true. (Acts 17:11) So if you are a committed Sabbath keeper who is weary of being under the bondage of legalism which so often surrounds Sabbath keeping grouips, you are welcome to join us. And even if you are not a committed Sabbath keeper, but are searching for a church where you will hear the Word of God faithfully expounded, you, too, are welcome to join us. We meet for Sabbath School every Friday evening at 7:00 pm. Our weekly worship service follows at 7:45 pm. We meet once a month of Saturday morning at 11:00 am to celebrate the Lord's Supper. Check out the "What We Believe" link for more information on our faith and practice. THIS WEBSITE WAS MOST RECENTLY UPDATED ON THURSDAY MAY 15, 2008.
