Hello Parents!!
This week (Nov. 17-20) in Grade 2:
- This week our spelling test will be on Thursday on Lesson 10. Lists went home Monday.
- Mrs. Valstar has started teaching our new Creation Studies unit titled One Body, Many Part: Our Local Community. We will be learning about our municipal government and the job we all have as citizens of this city. Students will be taking home a small project to be completed at home with parental help. More information will follow. Thanks in advance for your help in making this unit meaningful for your child.
- A note went home about our class trip to city hall next week Wednesday. You will be contacted sometime this week if you volunteered to drive. Thanks!
- Oops!! I must have been using an October calendar when figuring out the memory work due dates. Let's make the next part due Wednesday, November 26. Sorry about the confusion! It can be found on the bottom of that same paper.
- A new book report will be coming home today. It will be due on Thursday, November 27.Thanks for your help with finding a book and helping your child complete it.
- We are completing our math unit on Data Management. We are reviewing all we have learned about making and reading graphs and conducting surverys. Point examples out if you see them! A new unit will begin on Thursday. It is about addition and subtraction strategies and will be taught by Mrs. Valstar.
- **NEW** The Nelson textbook series which we are now using has a website that contains links to online activities from various websites that reinforces our classroom lessons. To check it out go to:

2. Click "Companion Sites"
3. Click "Nelson Mathematics 2"
4. Click "Teacher Centre"
5. Click on "Surf for More Math"
6. Click the unit (chapter) that we are studying
7. Click what ever lesson you would like to practice.
And, as always...
- The students are loving spending time at our new puzzle centre and very quickly completed the first puzzle! Do you have any puzzles that you no longer need? We would love to put them to good use here at school. Please send them in. Thanks!
- Also, we would love to add any unused books that your children have outgrown in our primary leveled library. Please send those in as well and we'll put them to good use. Thanks!
