Jehovah's Witness
When a Jehovah’s Witness comes to your door, you need to be able to defend Jesus’ full divinity. There are 3 areas of difference between Jehovah’s Witnesses and us.

1. John 1: 1      Jesus as A mighty god

JW position: JW’s claim that Jesus is some lesser god, a created being
the “Jesus:” of earth was actually the archangel Michael in heaven

Christian’s Position: Jesus is fully God, he preexisted with the father
in regards to his nature on earth, fully God and fully human.

JW view: the Bible teaches a strict monotheism----------there is but one God. Jewish Shema    Deut. 6:4   “Hear o Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one”   One God

To say that Jesus is some lesser god/a god would be to suggest that there is another God besides Jehovah

JW’s will respond that Jesus is not the almighty God, but a lesser kind of God. He is the “mighty god” in Isaiah 9:6

JW’s and Christians agree that Isaiah 9:6  is about Jesus
For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
       And he will be called
       Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
       Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Therefore they say that Jesus is A mighty god, but not THE almighty God.

The immediate problem is that Jehovah himself is called the mighty God in Isaiah 10:20-21

Verse 20 In that day the remnant of Israel,
the survivors of the house of Jacob,
will no longer rely on him
               who struck them down
but will truly rely on the LORD/(Jehovah),
               the Holy One of Israel.
Verse 21 A remnant will return, a remnant of Jacob
will return to the Mighty God.

Both Jesus and Jehovah are called mighty God.

The gospel writer John was a Jew, a monotheist. (believer in one God). Do JW’s really think that John would be saying that there is another God besides Jehovah?    Being raised as a good Jew, the apostle John would never believe that there was more than one God in existence.
The Apostle John writes in John 1:1

In the beginning was the word                                   Not the word was A god, some lesser
The word was with God                                             separate entity, but God. The word
And the word was God (NIV)                                               (Jesus) WAS God. (JW’s translation)

2. JW’s say that Jesus is a god like Moses was like a god.

JW’s claim that Jesus is A god in the sense that Moses was A god. But Moses was not a god.
The Bible says
Ex. 4:16   He (Aaron) will speak to the people for you, and it will be as if he were your mouth and as if you (Moses) were God to him.

Ex. 7:1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "See, I have made you like God to            Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.

3.            When Jesus appeared to Thomas after the resurrection and said touch my wounds John 20:28   Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!"

In Greek: literally:   “The Lord of me, and the God of me.”

JW’s assertion:        Thomas was so stunned by Jesus’ appearance that he swore.
This is ridiculous assertion. b/c it means that Thomas, a devout man of God, swore in font of Jesus and used the Lord’s name in vain in violation of Ex. 20:7 There is no instance in the NT where a disciple of Christ used God’s name in vain.

And if Thomas was wrong, why didn’t Jesus correct him and say,
“Settle down Thomas. Truly, truly I say to you, I am not THE god, but just A god.”

            But Thomas’s profession stands.
                        Jesus is THE God.
                        One with the father
He was with God the Father in the beginning.
                        He was not created
And he came to earth to show us God in human flesh.
And He came to be the sole payment of sin for those he came to redeem.

Do not fiddle with the divinity of Jesus Christ!    It will have you outside of Christian faith. It will have you losing your soul.

The Bible warns about tinkering:

Rev. 22:18-19    I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book.  And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.
