What is a baby dedication?

A baby dedication is not baptism.  It is a ceremony in which believing parents make a promise to raise their new baby according to the Word of God.  Jesus is our example, as He was dedicated at the temple by Joseph & Mary shortly after His birth.   

God delights in children.  He takes great pleasure in them.  In His eyes, they are one of the greatest gifts given to the husband and wife.  Psalms 127:3 proclaims that "sons are a heritage from the Lord, children a reward from him."  Because each child is a gift from God, it is scriptural that a Christian family present their child to the Lord, as well as dedicate themselves to giving proper instruction and godly love to that child.
