President's Message
Rev. Dr. Tilahun Mendedo
Rev. Dr. Tilahun Mekonnen Mendedo, President

Dear Friends:

I greet you in the precious name of Jesus Christ! Welcome to Concordia College-Selma—an institution rich in history, academic excellence, and leadership! It is one of the ten colleges and universities of the Concordia University System (CUS) in the United States and Canada, operated by the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod.

Our beloved College offers students the opportunity to obtain an excellent education in the vibrant historical community of Selma, Alabama. Since 1922, Concordia has been a pioneer to numerous success stories. Our alumni are among leaders in education, business, and public life. With every new freshman class, our goal is to provide students with an educational experience that will serve as a catalyst for a successful future as servant leaders in the church, the community, and the world.

Our campus affords students a wide range of experiences, cultures, and opportunities. This academic year is expected to be special and unique for all of us:  Special because we have each of you as students. It will be unique because we recently acquired the former United Methodist Children’s Home that tripled the size of our campus, providing more space for student life, academics, athletics, and worship. It also provides easy access to our campus and high visibility to the City of Selma.

The key to our success lays in our dedicated faculty, vigorous student body, and outstanding staff members. The faculty and staff at Concordia are committed to helping our students develop to their greatest potential by providing  a quality Christian education. As part of the Concordia family, I ask that all of us take advantage of the opportunities that our gracious Lord has made available to us to expand the mission of Concordia academically and spiritually. By the grace of God, we will continue our many efforts to make the College’s educational, athletic, and research programs ever stronger and more meaningful.

I wish you a blessed academic year.

Sincerely,

Rev. Dr. Tilahun Mekonnen Mendedo

President
