Concordia College is an historically Black College (HBCU), four-year, coeducational college, founded in 1922.
Concordia is a private institution of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS), where the Christian faith is taught from the Holy Scriptures and subscribed by the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
Concordia is one of ten post-secondary institutions in the Concordia University System of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod.
Concordia’s traditional liberal arts curriculum provides the conceptual framework necessary for analysis and problem solving in society while the fine arts enlighten and enrich the human spirit.

Concordia College was formerly known as Alabama Lutheran Academy and Junior College.
Concordia is located on a 22-acre site in the northeastern part of Selma, the county seat of Dallas County, is about 50 miles west of Montgomery and has a population of approximately 23, 000.

The mission of Concordia is to educate its students in accord with the teachings of the Christian faith for lives of responsible and effective service in the church and community. To achieve its mission, Concordia engages its students in programs and activities which identify and meet their spiritual, academic, social and physical needs.
