Student Services

Guidance and Counseling Services:
Concordia College provides academic, personal, spiritual, and occupational counseling for its students.  This is done through the college counselor, faculty advisors, college chaplain, and residence hall counselors.  The college seeks to provide services that will meet the interests, needs, and abilities of students as they relate to their educational and occupational opportunities.  Confidentiality is provided where personal, spiritual, social, and academic concerns are discussed.

The Counseling Center:
The Counseling Center, located in the Kreft Campus Center, Suite A, provides counseling to enrolled students at no charge.  The Center is staffed with professional counselors who are available to assist students with the many concerns they may have.  The Center offers the following services:  Individual (Personal-Social) Counseling, Career Planning Counseling, Academic Advising/Counseling and Spiritual Counseling.

Orientation:
A planned program of orientation is provided for all new students.  The orientation program includes information concerning college life, student responsibility, testing for class placement, and registration procedures.

Testing:
The Office of Counseling and Testing provides for the testing needs of the college.  The counseling and testing staff tests all incoming freshmen to determine proper placement in instructional courses.  For students who need extra assistance to gain competencies in English, mathematics, and reading, preparatory courses are provided.  These courses aid students in acquiring the needed skills for meeting college academic requirements.

Vehicle Registration:
Any member of the student body, staff or faculty who operates a motor vehicle and parks it on Concordia's campus must register it each semester during registration.  Stickers or parking decals, which should be displayed on the vehicle, may be obtained during registration or purchased through the Business Office.

Identification Cards (I.D.):
A student's identification card (I.D.) is mandatory and is valid only for the individual to whom it is issued.  This card must be carried at all times while the student is on campus.  An I.D. card is required when a student wishes to check out a book at the library, to receive meals in the cafeteria, to attend cultural and athletic events, and to utilize the campus center.

Learning Resources Center:
The Ellwanger-Hunt Learning Center provides a variety of materials for students.  The center is equipped with books, journals, newspapers, bibliographies, and audio-visual materials necessary for scholarly research and recreational reading.

Bookstore:
The college bookstore, located in Kreft Campus Center, has both new and used books.  A limited supply of educational and personal items is also available.  Bookstore hours are posted each semester.

Food Service:
The college has a full service cafeteria, Peay Hall, in which meals are served and a snack bar, in which sandwiches and assorted snacks are served according to posted hours.  The cafeteria is closed during the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and spring break holidays.

Campus Center:
The Kreft Campus Center affords a congenial meeting place for students when not in class.  The Campus Center houses recreational facilities, a snack bar, a conference room, classrooms, a board room, health/fitness rooms, post office, a career center, a bookstore and administrative offices.

Housing:
Concordia College has residence halls for students desiring to live on campus.  In completing the application for admission, students who desire to live on campus should indicate this desire and submit the appropriate room reservation fee.
