Congregational Care

Cared-for people care for people.

Congregational Care is about overseeing the lay activities of pastoral care for the congregation, developing and coordinating opportunities for Christian fellowship, and providing spiritual nurturing and support for members of the congregation. The Congregational Care Program Cluster provides compassionate, caring concern through personal contact with members of the church family who have a special need and are seeking spiritual support.

Key spiritual gifts: Exhortation, Healing, Shepherding, and Faith

Audio Tape Delivery Team

Deliver tapes of the early worship service each Sunday.

Bread Baker

Prepare loaves of homemade bread or rolls for Collegiate/Wesley events, as requested by hosting groups.

Care Center Visitation Team

Make contact with C/W members and friends who may be ill, home bound, or living in a care center. Includes making telephone calls, sending a card, making home visits, or delivering flowers.

Christmas Caroling Team (FAM)

Organize and carry out the annual caroling to church members and the homebound. Planning starts in mid-November and continues until caroling is completed.

Convalescent Meals Team (LEAD)

Help provide meals for those in the congregation that are in need of assistance, including the sick, the homebound, and families with new children. Help recruit and assign meal makers.

Funeral Meals

Help prepare and serve meals for funerals held at the church.

Home Bound Communion Server Team

Deliver and serve communion to those unable to attend worship.

Koinonia Support Person (LEAD)(NEW)

Provide support for the existing Koinonia groups or help the congregation to create new ones. Koinonia groups are collections of individuals that covenant to help each other in their spiritual discipline. They meet regularly for fellowship and support. Help maintain a current list of groups and members and provide them with resources to keep their group work meaningful.

Parish Nurse (LEAD)(NEW)

The parish nurse cares for the whole person by integrating faith and health through education, counseling, referral, support groups and advocacy. Must be a certified medical professional.

Prayer Chain Team

Pray for people who have requested this confidential support through the church office and ministerial staff. The team leader receives the prayer requests from the church office or from members of the congregation and then passes on the request to the other members of the team.

Transportation Team (LEAD)(NEW)

Provide rides for C/W members and friends in need. Help maintain a list of possible drivers and contact them in the event a request for a ride occurs.
