This fall we're offering three different studies. These studies are open to everyone so stop in and check them out . . . maybe even bring a friend! We've already started some of them, but you can catch up quickly! We're currently planning on just one "section" of each. However, if you are interested in participating and the times listed simply don't fit your schedule, talk with us and we'll see what we can do.
Living Faith and Justice
As Christians, what does it mean to live "peace and justice" in this world? How can we work towards meaningfully transforming our lives, our communities, and the world at large into a more just, sustainable, and interconnected community? Through study, discussion and experiential learning, this 13-week study will seek to address a variety of deeply interwoven peace and justice issues that affect our everyday realities including the interconnections between consumption, agriculture, poverty, food politics, sustainability, environmental justice, economic justice, racial justice, and many other issues.
Come join together with others who are passionate about working, sharing, and learning from and with one another about the intersections of faith, justice, and peace. And lets explore how we as individuals and communities can meaningfully work to put our faith into action! For more information (or to sign up) contact Jim
Living the Questions 2
"Living the Questions" has been a very popular study for several semesters. Now it's time for an update! So, even if you've already "done LtQ1". . . you'll find lots of "new stuff" in LtQ2 (and if you didn't do LtQ1, don't worry. . .it's not a pre-req!) LtQ2 is an open-minded alternative to studies that attempt to give all the answers. Participants in LtQ2 will find a safe place where they can ask questions they've always wanted to and interact with one another in exploring what's next for Christianity. . . and for themselves in their faith journey.
Each dvd-driven session features clips of theologians, scholars, etc. We'll listen and watch, then discuss big questions like how the Bible was formed, who wrote it and why, what it means to think theologically, how we might understand our faith in this new century and more. You'll also learn new spiritual disciplines and practices and hear suggestions for engagement in acts of social justice. Come do LtQ2! For more information (or to sign up) contact Jim.
Lectionary Bible Study & faithspring planning
Each week we'll discuss a set of scriptures from the lectionary (5-6pm Tuesdays ~ Student Lounge). Since the texts we study will also be used for faithspring, worship planning will follow from 6-6:30pm. The Bible study is "no strings attached"... we won't make you stay for the planning portion, but you are certainly welcome! Please contact Jim for more info.
faithspring post-script
Grab a plate of food at Sunday Supper and join us for faithspring post-script, 6:30pm at the Annex. Each week we discuss the message shared at faithspring, how it applies to our lives, what we found uplifting, and ways we agree or disagree.
