Reaching and Receiving people in the name of Christ is primarily about evangelism. It seeks to invite a person who has not made a decision to follow Christ into that commitment. It involves hospitality, invitation, reconciliation, welcoming, and witness. In order to reach and receive, we practice openness to all, and are the advocate for “the other,” those people who feel hurt or forgotten.

Key spiritual gifts: Evangelism, Interpretation of Tongues, Tongues, Hospitality, and Shepherding

Advent Festival Team

Plan and implement an intergenerational, “hands on” workshop for holiday crafts; select theme and crafts; purchase supplies; assign and train event workers.

After-Church Social Team

After the 9:30 a.m. service in the summer, and after the 8:30 a.m. service during the school year, we meet in the Gathering Space and Terrace for a time of fellowship. Help provide drinks and snacks, and host that time of fellowship.

Childcare Ministry Team

Help evaluate nursery facilities and equipment, help the church set childcare policies.

Child Caregiver

Join the paid childcare staff or assist them in meeting the childcare needs of the church. Volunteer (adult or older high school youth) for Sunday nursery or Kids’ Korner. Child and Youth Protection Policy training is required and provided.

Connections Team (NEW)

Congregational partners will help our regular visitors transition to feeling at home and involved at Collegiate/Wesley. Partners, placed with individuals or families, will act as guides toward knowing more about our church and also may be spiritual companions. Newcomers are assigned a partner around their fifth visit.

Easter Breakfast Team

Organize and carry out a breakfast following the Easter Sunrise Service.

Outreach Marketing Team (NEW)

Work with the coordinator of communications to promote Collegiate/Wesley within the Ames community. Help develop a marketing strategy and promotional materials. Help develop a message to the community that focuses on our faith in Jesus Christ and how that faith can be explored through participation in the life of the church. Graphic design, photography, marketing, web-development, journalism, and psychology are all important components of the work of this team.

Rainbow Vision Team

Promote the reconciliation of the LGBT community with the Christian community and raise awareness that LGBT people are created equally by God and are loved by God.

Summer Picnic Team

Organize an all-church picnic at an outdoor site.

Soup Supper Team

Welcome Team
