First & Second Grade Teacher

I love working with kids! I have been teaching first and second grade at Delavan Christian School since the 2001 school year. Before DCS I also spent over 8 years teaching second and third grade in the Milwaukee Public School system. I received my Bachelors in Elementary Education from U.W. Whitewater. I later received my Masters in Elementary Education from Cardinal Stritch University. Teaching at DCS has given me the opportunity to integrate my faith across the curriculum. The children and I are blessed because of this. My philosophy on teaching is that every child is gifted and I must help them discover those gifts God blessed them with! I believe that teaching is a privilege. I have the chance everyday to help the children see themselves the way God does--His Marvelous Creation!

Judging by the picture you can tell I love books! My goal in the classroom is to instill this love for reading and writing among my students. We spend the year learning what good readers and writers do. The children are challenged,guided and encouraged in the clasroom to apply the skills and strategies they are learning in reading and writing.
