Here's a look at our morning!
Our days begin with devotions. Monday mornings we meet in the gym for singing with the whole school. The rest of the week we read a devotion and take turns praying together.
Each morning we will be doing many reading and writing activities. Language, Reading, Writing, Phonics, Handwriting and Spelling are all a part of our morning time. We all participate in activities to help us improve our abilities in these areas. In the Spring we will be participating in forensics. Each child will present an individual or group piece for eachother and our parents. Later, some of us will present our pieces at an county meet in Walworth, WI.
Our mornings will also involve math activities. We will play games and solve problems together to help us improve our number awareness.
Each week I will send a homenote to keep parents informed of the things we are working on in class.
Now a peek at our afternoons!
Bible: This year in Bible we will be looking at creation through the settling of the promised land. Later in the year we will look at Psalms and Proverbs, and then go on to the exile and return. Our memory verses will be sent home each week for extra practice in hiding God's Word in our hearts. Our first unit is Walking with God.
Science: This will begin the second quarter. Our forth quarter we will again be looking at science.
Art: We will begin our year learning about line, shape, texture, and color. Our projects throughout the year will focus on these elements of art.
Social Studies: We will learn about the world God has created for us to care for. As we look at ourselves and the beautiful world around us we will be amazed at His creativity! This month we will be learning about the early Americans.
Physical Education: This year we will have gym class on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Please be sure your child dresses appropriately for exercise (good shoes too) on these days.
Computer: Mr. Taylor will work with us on Fridays this year.
Library: Each Friday we also visit our school library and the students have a chance to check out books for one or two weeks.
