Kindergarten Teacher

Welcome to our kindergarten! Our room is a busy place, full of hands on learning opportunities suitable for the 5 and 6 year old child. Classroom learning involves the whole child: spiritual, academic, emotional, social and physical. Over all modes of developing, each student is encouraged to grow as a child of God.

Hi! I am Susanne Nelson, kindergarten teacher at Delavan Christian School. As an early childhood teacher, I have taught in a variety of settings and programs. This is my 13th year year as kindergarten taeacher at DCS. I enjoy the energy and enthusiasm of the young child. Each year, I notice that through the children, God has placed great beauty and variety in our classroom. How fitting, since kindergarten means child's garden!

My husband, Ron, is also a teacher. We have 3 adult children and are transitioning into the empty nest stage. We are members of Christ Episcopal Church of Delavan.

Monday will be dedicated to our Thanksgiving preparations. Wednesday will be dedicated to celebrating with family and classmates!

Thank you to parents who were able to drive and participate in our Healthy Kids Club program. All children were attentive, appropriately interactive and polite. This gave me pause to consider that on this and all field trips, we are ambassadors for DCS. The hospital volunteers complimented our children on their good behavior. For this positive showing of Delavan Christian School, I say, Thank You, God!

And for me personally, I was reminded of God’s commissioning each one of us as His ambassadors. For the successes, I am grateful; for my less than stellar performances, I am grateful for God’s mercy and His healing and restoration.

Thanksgiving Celebration DCS gym Wednesday, November 25 10:15-11: You are invited to celebrate Thanksgiving with us following the children’s recess. Our hour will be filled with a short presentation, Thanksgiving activities and our Thanksgiving food preparations. Younger siblings are welcome, as are grandparents or other family guests.

Thanksgiving Preparations You are welcome to join us in our food preparations on Monday. (pumpkin and apple foods) Please call if you are able to participate. We will be busy in the morning and afternoon!
