Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12

Second Grade Teacher

Welcome to 2nd Grade! I am looking forward to a great year with my students. Please continue to pray for us throughout the year.

This will be my first year of teaching and sharing my faith with the children at Delavan Christian School.  I graduated from Trinity Christian College in 1988 and went to work for Southwest Chicago Christian School.  I taught first grade for nine years and met my husband, Craig, while in Illinois.  Craig has been employed with State Farm Insurance for over seventeen years and loves his job.  We have two beautiful girls named Casey and Abby.  Casey will be a freshman at Christian Life High School and Abby will be a 7th grader at Racine Christian School. We all attend Racine Christian Reformed Church. God has blessed me with this job and I look forward to teaching and helping each child build their relationship with our Savior Jesus Christ.  One of my favorite passages of the Bible is Psalm 27:4.  “One thing I ask of the Lord and this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek Him in his temple.”  This is my hope for my students and for myself, that we will seek the Lord while on this earth and worship Him always and forever in heaven.

“Examine yourselves too see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves.”  2 Cor. 13:5

Dear Parents,

What a great trip to Discovery World last week!  I hope your children told you all about our fun day!

We have been practicing for our play Blame It on the Wolf.   The play will be presented on this Tuesday, May 22nd at 7:00.  If you could bring some cookies on Tuesday night, it would be greatly appreciated.  We will provide the refreshments and paper products.

I am putting together a general Reading or Math Summer Work packet.  If your child would like one, please let me know which one.  These packets have a variety of papers to work on throughout the summer months.  If they return their packet completed and corrected in September, we will have a pizza and pop party at school together.  Please let me know if your child is interested in one of these.  There are about 25-two sided pages in each.  It would be great if they did 1 side each day over the summer.

We are still collecting items for the local food pantry.  We will be walking there on Wednesday afternoon and delivering our items.

We are picking up the pond on Thursday of this week.  We still need a few drivers.  Your children need to wear LONG PANTS on that day as the grass is very long.

Skate night is at the Delavan Skate Barn from 6-8:00 on Thursday night.

Please send in your report cards.

READING:  We have been reading our book called The Whipping Boy.

SPELLING:  Unit #34 after, never, father, water, other, winter, paper, finger, master, winner, mother, number, brother, discover, summer, computer, Challenge Words: whole, hole, Wisconsin

LANGUAGE ARTS:  We are working on our stories.

MATH:  We will be working on unit #11 this week.

I hope you have a great week.  Remember to check out my newsletter on-line.

May God bless you today and always!
