- The average class size is twenty-one students. This is supplemented
by two learning support teachers and eleven para-professionals.
- Our K-8 grades enrollment for the 2009/10 school year is 405.
There are an additional 69 students in the pre-kindergarten program
representing a total of 271 families.
- All students take Bible. This subject is taught with spiritual truths
integrated throughout the entire curriculum. A Bible is given to every
student in third grade to use through their learning years.
- Morning devotions are held in every classroom each day. Middle and
elementary school chapels are held weekly. In middle school,
accountability groups of four to five students, who are guided by one
adult, meet every other week. These groups stay together throughout
the three years.
- Dutton is accredited by the Michigan Non-Public School
Accreditation Association (MNSAA). All of our teaching staff are highly
qualified and are accredited by the state of Michigan for the subject
area in which they teach. They are supported by a professional
growth budget.
- Dutton Christian students consistently score well in the Iowa Tests of
Basic Skills (ITBS) standardized testing.
- Technology is fully integrated with one computer equipped with
internet service for every four students.
- Our budget for the 2009-10 school year is $2.1 million.
- In 1994, the Dutton Christian School Foundation was established to
provide long-term financial support.
- School Circle is our parent organization. The purpose of this group is
to enhance the education and enrich the environment of our students
and staff through service, fund-raisers, and fun & fellowship all
through the efforts of volunteers.
- Tuition Reduction Incentive Program (TRIP) is available to assist both
present and future DCS families by giving them the opportunity to
accumulate tuition credit.
- In 2009, we expanded and improved our Kindergarten program to include Developmental/Young Fives, Three Day, and Every Day classes.
- We have a written dress code which requires clothing to be neat and
modest while allowing our students to maintain their own
personalities.
- The local public school provides occupational therapy, physical
therapy, and speech services to eligible DCS students.
- Students residing in the Caledonia Community School District are
bused to Dutton Christian School on Caledonia buses at no cost to
the parents. Students residing outside of the Caledonia School District
may be bused using the Dutton Christian School buses. A fee is
charged per participating family.
