Degree
M.A. in Theological Studies in Progress – Covenant Theological Seminary, St. Louis, MO
M.A. in Teaching History – The Citadel, Charleston, SC
B.A. in History with an English Minor – Southern Methodist University, Dallas, TX
Hobbies and Interests – An avid sports fan, I love all games and sports especially ping pong, scrabble, tennis, golf, darts, soccer, bocci ball, and baseball. My other interests include folk music, woodworking, gardening, Russian literature, John Deere riding mowers, writing prose and poetry, and searing the perfect diamond shaped grid on each side of a steak.
What I like best about teaching – My passion is primarily to teach students to admire the work of God in the material I teach especially Literature, Mathematics, and American History. I love a good story and I aim to see my students to love stories, too. Specifically, I enjoy provoking thought and discussion in my classes and I am particularly drawn to teaching students in grades 5-8.
As the ECS headmaster, I am grateful to God for the opportunity to influence all spheres of the ECS community (parents, students, teachers, and community) through the role as headmaster. Naturally drawn to sharing with people about ECS, I love the opportunities to develop relationships on behalf of ECS with community agencies, businesses, foundations, civic support groups, and area churches. I am passionate about being a resource for all parents regarding the benefits of a classical Christian education and regarding godly principles for child-rearing. I love to watch God supply all our needs according to His riches in Christ! Though I am one of the earthly leaders of ECS, I never forgot the motto of Hudson Taylor, the well regarded missionary to China: “When it is God’s work done in God’s way, He provides.”
As a goal this year, I have placed the scripture from John 3:30 before my eyes, “He must increase, but I must decrease.” My eager desires is for Christ to be exalted in my work with all whom He gives me to serve this year.
