Mission and Outreach Committee Mandate
Purpose
To help mobilize the congregation for service in our community and the world through evangelistic efforts, ministry projects and the promotion of justice.
Responsibilities
-
Help educate members of the congregation in how to witness more effectively in word and deed.
-
Bring awareness to the congregation of justice issues and evangelistic/ministry opportunities, challenging the congregation to think more broadly and discerningly about these issues.
-
Communicate and work with local and regional agencies in order to seek out and attempt to meet needs. (e.g. Mid-Sioux, JFA, ATLAS, MEL, CPJ, Siouxland Deacons’ Conference, CFE, The Banquet, Sioux City Gospel Mission, etc.)
-
Facilitate events related to evangelism, ministry projects, and justice issues. (e.g. Missions Emphasis Sunday, Saturday Service Day, World Hunger Sunday, Restorative Justice Sunday, etc.)
-
Provide regular communication to the congregation in the areas of evangelism and justice for each edition of the Faith Family Focus and through an occasional report/update during the worship service.
-
Maintain and facilitate communication with denominational agencies (CRHM, CRWM, CRWRC, OSJ) when necessary.
-
Provide regular financial support, prayer support, and communication with our missionaries. This includes determining which missionaries to support, budgeting, and providing tools and tips for the households to maintain an effective relationship with the missionaries to whom they have been assigned.
