Sr. Pastor

     Neil Everett has served as Sr. Pastor of First Baptist Calhoun since 1996.  His sense of humor and genuine caring persona makes him a true joy to be around.  Pastor Neil's "teaching" style of preaching enables any and everyone to gain a good fundamental grasp on the biblical truths he shares.

     If you are looking for a Church where the Word of God is preached unashamedly, then you have come to the right place.  Visit us this Sunday and make a point to see Pastor Neil following the service.  He would love to meet you. 

James grew up in Texas and as you can see in the background of his picture went to Texas A&M University. After graduating from A&M he attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. James has served in many ministry positions in Texas and Louisiana. He enjoys working with people guiding them in small groups and leading people to a personal relationship with our savior Jesus Christ. James and his wife Mary Ellen are adjusting to the empty nest as their two sons, Nathan and Justin are both away in college.

Wanda comes to First Calhoun with a rich vault of experience. She has worked in local churches and on the state level. Under Wanda’s leadership she has developed with her leaders a secure, nurturing environment for our children/preschoolers. Our preschool/children are taught biblical truths as a foundation for salvation and Christian living. The preschool/children ministries goal is that our children grow as Jesus did mentally (in wisdom), physically, socially/emotionally and spiritually. We desire to make a happy, clean and safe place for your children. Wanda’s husband Edwin “Red” Plouet is very involved with Wanda in the ministry. Wanda has 2 married daughters and 4 grandchildren.

Benjamin is a native of Jonesboro, LA and he currently lives in Ruston, LA. He holds a BM in voice from LaTech and a MM in education from ULM. Benjamin is currently working on a DMA in worship from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He has served in various churches as a music minister/worship leader.  Benjamin has a passion for leading worship with the praise team while incorporating hymns, psalms, and contemporary songs into the services. When he is not leading worship, he also enjoys leading and instructing the church choirs. His goal for the church is to create an understanding and awareness of what worship is: a divine meeting between God and His people where He is revealed and His people respond. Benjamin is married to Heidi DeCou and father to three children, Michael, Madison, and Jonathan. 

Gayle Bradshaw serves as our financial secretary and does so with one of the sweetest spirits.  Gayle and her husband Don are both long-time members of First Baptist Calhoun.

Joyce has served as receptionist for 12 years and has been a member at First Cal for 58 years. She began attending church here as a child when the church began in 1951! Joyce was born and raised in Calhoun. She and her husband Richard of 51 years have been serving the Lord and this community together for over 50 years. They have 2 children, 5 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson.
