Holy Conversation - Conference Room
Leader: Barnabas Sprinkle
Spirituality, a word heard often today yet met with many questions. As a Christian, are you prepared to talk about your faith or are you uneasy about religious salesmanship and canned evangelistic formulas. Is it simply we don't know how to express our faith naturally---in everyday language or fear the risk being offensive or saying something wrong. Author Richard Peace teaches how to engage in easy and comfortable conversation about the good news of Jesus in his book Holy Conversation. Using small, easy steps, Peace explains the gospel in common terms and encourages developing practical ways to share faith with friends, neighbors and colleagues. Practice becoming a competent and confident Christian conversationalist as you and group members actually engage one another in spiritual conversation.
Getting Your Gifts in Gear - Room 202
Leaders: Jenni Preston and Lynn Kaufman
Every Christian is called by God to use his or her spiritual gifts to build up the body of Christ, His church. Paul writes, “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” (1 Cor.12:27) What an amazing privilege- and an awesome responsibility- it is to be a part of His body! Scripture teaches us that we are all equipped with certain spiritual gifts, given to us by the Holy Spirit. But what are these gifts, exactly? How do I know what my particular gifts are? And once I know how I’m gifted, what ministries of the church would God have me participate in? We will study Scripture passages on spiritual gifts and attempt to discern how each of us has been gifted. Please join us!

Come see why this classic is such an inspiration to those who want to grow more like Christ.
Band of Brothers - Room 206
Men’s Ministry
Join other men this fall with a visit to 1 Samuel. We then follow-up with Philip Yancey’s powerful book, Prayer: Does It Make Any Difference?. Probe the most fundamental, challenging, perplexing, and deeply rewarding aspect---the very heartbeat---of your relationship with God: prayer. In theory, prayer is the essential human act, a priceless point of contact between you and the God of the universe. In practice however, prayer is often frustrating, confusing, and fraught with mystery. Explore the mysterious intersection where you and God meet and relate. Writing as a fellow pilgrim, Yancey explores the questions surrounding prayer that you may wonder about but not know how to express. Above all, Yancey shows you how to pray to a God who sees what lies ahead of you, knows what lies within you, and who invites you into an eternal partnership with Him---through prayer.
