“And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me.”
-Jesus in Matthew 18:5
First Presbyterian Church nursery staff and volunteers are committed to providing a safe, clean, fun, nurturing environment in which our precious babies and toddlers can learn, grow, and take their first steps towards faith in Christ. Our Creator loves and values each child, and we as caregivers seek to follow His example as we minister to the children and families of our faith community.
FPC’s nursery ministry plays a vital, active role in the life and work of our church. Parents may freely worship, learn, study, and attend meetings and special church functions knowing that their children are being well cared for by a combination of paid staff members and loving volunteer Sunday school teachers and caregivers. We teach our youngest members the fundamental truths about our Lord: that He made them and loves them, and that church is a wonderful place to be. We take care of infants and toddlers during all three worship services and Sunday school on Sunday mornings, and during Wednesday night Bible study classes, in rooms 101, 102, and 103. Parents are asked to sign their children in and out of the nursery and to fill out a label to go on their child’s back listing important instructions for the caregivers, such as when the child may need a bottle, nap, etc. Parents are issued a security pager, which will vibrate if they are needed in the nursery.
Nursery care is often available at other times as well, such as for committee meetings, daytime Bible studies for moms, Sunday night services, and for any church-wide special events. During these events, childcare is typically provided for children ages five and under.
