Preschool Ministries (2 yrs. - K5)

Since children learn best by using all their senses, Bible stories for preschoolers are taught in an interactive environment by nurturing adult teachers. Basic stories from the Old Testament, the life of Jesus, and the early church are stressed. Learning to pray, singing, and belonging to the community of faith are also important parts of Sunday School and Wednesday night classes. Children are placed in age appropriate classes based on birth date on or before September 1st of current school year.

SUNDAYS:

Sunday classes are available for all preschoolers at both the 9:30 and 11:00 a.m. Sunday School sessions. A different curriculum is used for each session, in order that children may remain for a second hour of instruction and nurture.

Children in the Preschool II class (age 4) and K5 classes participate in the Young Children and Worship program during the 11:00 a.m. session. This program is a unique blend of worship and learning which provides a structured time with children based on the outline for worship found in our Presbyterian worship services. Participation in this program prepares children to worship with their families and the entire faith community beginning in the first grade.

WEDNESDAYS:

Classes and activities on Wednesday nights begin for children at 6:30 p.m. each week during the school year. Preschoolers (ages 3 and 4) join with Kindergartners and First-graders during PRAISE PLUS for a time of singing. At 7:00, the younger children are dismissed to their classroom for an hour of fun Bible activities, while K-5 children enjoy a rotating style of instruction that includes Bible, art/crafts, fellowship and outreach to a nearby assisted living community. Activities are suspended for the summer months but will resume this fall.
