SESSION # 1         9:30 - 10:30 a.m.

ALPHA – Conference Room
Leaders: Bob Frevert, Don Scarbrough and Tom Gann
Alpha class is outstanding in their personal concern for loving, supporting, and caring
for one another. In this revered class, as needs and concerns are expressed, living faith through action reveals the commitment they have to be the body of Christ. Using the David C. Cook Bible in Life Comprehensive Bible Study Series as their study material, the class is focusing on the nature of God as the first person of the Trinity.  We will cover “Tradition & Wisdom” a study of  Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Solomon, and Matthew.

JOY CLASS – Library
Leaders: Patti McDonald, Sandy Vickers and Sandra Eichelberger
Using the Present Word Uniform Lesson Series, the three units in this study will explore the Inescapable God.  Unit I traces God’s emerging relationship with Israel.  Unit II will reveal psalms that sing of God’s majesty, sovereignty, and steadfast love.  In Unit III, the attributes of God who is good, everlasting, secure and omnipresent are extolled. Discover what it means to be a beloved child of God.  No prior study is necessary for full enjoyment of this class.  The Joy Class is primarily made up of women, but all are welcome.

THIRSTQUENCHERS - Chapel
Leaders: Lucie Morris and Frank Schillinger
Our class begins each week sharing praises and prayer concerns.  We are a multi-age group with a variety of personalities. We are beginning a study on the book of John using our Bibles and various commentaries. We welcome class discussion and feel we learn so much from the input of others. Service projects are ongoing as the needs arise.  Everyone is invited to join in study and fellowship through this community.

BIBLE SURVEY – Room 201
Leader: Gloria Davis
Sermon on the Mount will be the focus of the fall sermon and study series beginning
Sep. 4 through Nov. 27.
Early in Jesus’ ministry he gathered people on a hillside and taught them the characteristics of the Christian life. Those teachings are captured in Matthew 5-7. The first twelve verses of the Sermon on the Mount are called the Beatitudes. The rest of the sermon addresses what we should do as Christians. You might call that our Do-Attitudes.

THEOPHILI – Room 203/204
Leaders: Cheryl Ireland, Sandy Shuler and Susan Gibbs
The Theophili Class will begin a study of 1, 2, and 3 John.  This study is very relevant to the times in which we live.  When John wrote these letters, he was living in a time of theological and personal conflict.  The Christian community was threatened by disunity and false teaching.  In John's effort to beat back heresy, proclaim the true nature of Christ, and encourage faithful believers, he leads us to explore themes of light and darkness, falsehood and truth, and what it means to be children of God in our community today.  These three short books have a lot to teach us about handling conflict, discerning truth, and measuring Christian conduct.  Through the study of John's letters, we will discuss and explore their enduring relevance for our twenty-first century lives.

THE SHEPHERDS FLOCK – Room 206
