Education

Christian education, to help us mature in our understanding of faith and to enrich our discipleship, is provided for all ages.  From a study of the gospel of Matthew to learning better parenting skills, we study a variety of topics in our effort to understand more fully what it means to be a Christian in today's complex world.  But our educational efforts are always Biblically grounded and historically informed as befits a church of the Reformed Tradition.  We consider Christian education to be a vital part of our total ministry, second only in importance to worship.

As a congregation, we fulfill our baptismal vow to teach and nurture those who are baptized by providing three educational opportunities for our children:

**  Nursery (Birth - 2 years) will continue throughout the year at 10:00 a.m. Rachelle Boddy will  be  the Nursery Attendant; Assistant Nursery Attendant Elizabeth Sturtridge.

** GIFT (Growing In Faith Together) - (3 years - 2nd grade) 10:00 a.m. Sunday-After the Children's Blessing leaders escort preschool through 2nd grade children to the Christian Education wing to experience a time and teaching meant just for them.  Children 3rd grade and above remain in worship.  After the sermon, the children will be escorted back into the sanctuary so that they may fully participate in the rest of the service.  Leaders are Kelly Pittman and Jacquie Green.

**Preschool - (3 years - 5 years) 9:00 a.m. - 9:45 a.m. Sunday.  Classes led by Cyndi Beerbower and Chelsea Kendrick  will utilize the PC (USA)'s "Wee Believe" curriculum, connecting young believers' lives with the Bible.

**  Faith Adventure (K - 4th Grade) workshops will be led by a number of different dedicated adults this year.  They will use the "We Believe" curriculum.  The first story of this year will be the Creation story.  Our children will explore the Creation story through storytelling, movies, art, games, music, and drama.

**  I Know My Bible (5th - 6th Grade) A new class this year for youth in 5th and 6th grade.  Kelly Pittman and Therese Robison will be teaching the "I Know My Bible" curriculum.  This is great preparation for Confirmation as youth explore the Bible and grow in their faith together.

**  Faith Voyage (7th - 8th Grade)  Kelly Remick and Andrea Cansfield will be walking along side the 7th and 8th grade youth using the "Faithfully Asking Questions" curriculum.  Our youth will be provided with the tools to travel on a wonderful journey of faith to discover God's Kingdom.

**  Faith Quest (9th - 12th Grade) the high school youth will be using the "Faith Questions" curriculum this year.  This is a highly interactive, discussion-based format that will encourage youth to continue to explore their faith and determine how best to live it out in the real world.  Teacher: Pastor Bre Harmon
