Our Story
BRIEF HISTORY OF MEMORIAL PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH (1924-2009)
Memorial Presbyterian Church was started in 1924 and the first building was purchased during the year 1925. Our first worship service was on Christmas Eve 1925 where Rev. Duggan was the first pastor to speak. The first thing Rev Duggan did was organize a women's auxiliary which worked to raise money for a building. After the hurricane, came the Stock Market Crash in October. Money was hard to obtain, yet the congregation had determination and by 1936 our present building was completed. The first service was held on February 2, 1936. In 1937 the Sunday school building was dedicated. At that time, Rev. Lindsay was the church pastor. During the WWII years, 1940-1944, Rev. Archie C. Ray became the pastor. In 1944 Rev Ryan L Wood was ordained as our new pastor. Dr. Wood served our church until 1968. The steeple on our church and the second half of our Sunday school building were completed in 1957. In 1969 Dr. J Wayte Fulton began serving as pastor and he continued until Dr. William R. Stepp arrived in 1982. Our church has supported our Scout troop for 69 years making Troop # 13 one of the oldest Scouting organizations in Florida. Our Stephen Ministry was established in 1991 and continues to be a important part of our church. We are currently re-roofing and refurbishing our buildings and grounds to prepare for our next 85 years of ministry in Palm Beach County. Our current co-pastor, Dr. Stepp, is the 6th senior pastor to serve Memorial Presbyterian during its 82 year history. On April 1, 2009, Dr. Stepp became our first ever co-pastor.  He was joined by the Rev. Randy Bare who began his ministry here at MPC on April 1, 2009.  Rev. Bare and Dr. Stepp will serve together as co-pastors until Dr. Stepp's retirement, at which point Rev. Bare will become Senior Pastor of MPC.
