GRANDPARENTS' DAY 2009

Our Grandparents' Day festivities were enjoyed immensely!  Warmed by steaming coffee and the hospitality of great community, HCS's grandparents were encouraged with devotions by a long time friend, Rev. Bazuin.  Following this time in the Word of God, the students took their place and the songs of praise that have been echoing in the halls these first fews months of school filled the gymnasium!  On to the classrooms, our first timer's in Kindergarten worked diligently and with great intensity as they demonstrated their new skills.  First graders were gleeful as they greeted their guests.  On through the grades, grandparents and students celebrated the gifts that are ours through Christian education.  We appreciate all those that attended and volunteered to make this day a special celebration!

Highland Christian Huskies Know How to Celebrate!

Our Centennial Dinner Celebration was a night to be remembered!  As family and friends gathered to commemorate our heritage and the tremendous blessings we share through Highland Christian School, each generation shared stories that resounded with praise to our living God.  As I listened, I remembered these stanzas in Longfellow's poem, "A Psalm of Life"

Not enjoyment, and not sorrow,
        Is our destined end or way ;
But to act, that each to-morrow
        Find us farther than to-day

Lives of great men all remind us
        We can make our lives sublime,
    And, departing, leave behind us
        Footprints on the sands of time ;

Let us, then, be up and doing,
        With a heart for any fate ;
    Still achieving, still pursuing,
        Learn to labor and to wait.
