Matthews Presbyterian Church offers numerous classes for Adults to join. Sunday School hour is from 9:45 to 10:45 AM. For more information about a particular book being used for a class please see one of our links.

 

 

 

 

 

Berean Class
Teacher: Luis Concha, Larry Platter, Rusty Burton
Room: Room 207, Christian Worship Center

In a lecture and discussion format this class will study curriculum from the Presbyterian Church called The Present Word.  This fall the class will begin by observing and discussing what God reveals during the story of creation.

 

Basic Bible 101
Teachers: Barbara Wissbaum and Jim Johnson
Room: Fellowship Hall

This class goes step-by-step through the books of the Bible, reading and discovering God’s characteristics through the study of scripture.  They will begin studying Matthew 14 this year and continue with their study one book of the Bible at a time.

 

Explorers
Teachers: Eddie Barefoot, Martin Best, Phil and Beth Lambert
Room: 2-E Chapel/Fellowship Bldg.

This class will begin by discussing Biblical Interpretation.  They will discuss the importance of language, historical and social setting.  They will also outline three major periods of Biblical interpretation and question why people interpret the Bible differently.  Additionally, They will be reading and discussing several books this year.

 

Genesis
Teacher: Brian Johnson
Room: 2-H Chapel/Fellowship Bldg.

This class will rediscover Jesus Christ as they begin their year with a study relating to his life and ministry.  They will also discuss other important people in the Bible and the roles they played in fulfilling God’s word.  Additionally, this class will be using multimedia to ignite discussion about topics such as love, spirituality,  purpose, and friends.
