Presbyterian Women of Matthews Presbyterian Church
The PW is open to and encourages particpation by all female members of Matthews Presbyterian Church. Our goal is to provide Spiritual nurturing and wholesome fellowship for the women of our church through meetings and outings and retreats. Our mission is to seek ways in which we can promote Christ's justice and peace in our community and in the world. How do we do this?
We have circles, which are groups of women who gather together for a time to revisit Scripture with Bible study, to plan small projects to improve our community, and to bolster one another as they go through life's journey. Take a look at the descriptions of the 4 active circles. If you don't find one that fits your life, contact Dixie Blackburn or Wendy Croom and we'll help you get one started!
We have PW meetings to plan churchwide events to encourage and support all members of MPC, to seek ways to spread God's goodness to others in our community, and to plan special projects to help promote justice and peace and health across the nation and world. We support the Matthews Help Center, we have sewn mosquito nets to help curb the spread of malaria in Africa, and we have brought in speakers to address the congregation on spiritual life. When you see a PW function that interests you, come! We would love to have every woman at MPC join, and you never need a special invitation.
We hold week-end retreats to give the women of MPC time for renewal in the Black Mountains of NC.
We hold attic and bake sales in the spring and fall to raise funds to help missions projects organized by our members, as well as to support the Presbytery's national and international missions.
We hope you will join us at any or all of the events throughout the year. Please contact Dixie Blackburn or Wendy Croom, our current moderators, for more information!
