Christmas In Gary, WV- 2007
Our congregation put together a very successful Christmas toy drive for children in Gary, West Virginia this year. The collection took place during the month of November through Wednesday, December 5. This was our second Christmas reaching out to this West Virginia community. We collected new toys, unwrapped, specific for either a boy or girl and a specific age group. We had an angel tree in the friendship court with complete detailed information on each ornament. Our goal was to collect 100 gifts. We ended up collecting over 350. Because of the generosity of our members, this outreach effort was a great success. A group of our members delivered the gifts to School For Life in Gary, WV on Saturday, December 8. Jack and Brenda Fultz, directors of School For Life, invited parents of children in the area to come to the school that afternoon. The parents came, enjoyed a nice lunch provided by a Baptist Church from Atlanta, and then were able to pick out presents to take home and wrap for their children this Christmas. Jack and Brenda Fultz extended a warm and heartfelt thank you to every member of our congregation for making this project possible for these wonderful West Virginia families. Thank you for your support of this mission outreach effort.
Missions Committee
Christmas In Gary, WV- 2006
Our congregation's Christmas project to support School For Life in Gary, WV was a huge success. In November, the mission's committee was given the names and wish lists of 13 families in need of Christmas cheer this holiday season. Several families in our congregation then teamed up to purchase & wrap gifts for each family. Other members filled more than 40 stockings with treats for the children & provided personalized Christmas cards to the families. On Dec 9, a small group of missionaries from our church delivered these gifts to the family's homes in Gary. Our missionaries spent time at each family's home to visit with them, hear how they're doing, exchange hugs/handshakes, and wish them a Merry Christmas. The families were thrilled and grateful for the love and kindness our congregation extended to them this holiday season. The mission's committee would like to thank the congregation for your generosity and love in making the vision of this Christmas project come true.
