On our campus, two PSCC staff members are available for a variety of counseling services.  Bentley Ball, MA, LPC, is a Pastoral Psychotherapist.  Bentley worked with InterVarsity at NC State, UNCC, and University of Texas at Austin before earning a Masters in Biblical Counseling from Colorado Christian University in 1990.  While in Colorado, she worked in a residential treatment center with adolescents and adults with interest in experiential and group therapies.  From 1996 to 2004, she lived in Perth, Australia, where she offered individual and group therapy through Perth Bible College before and between having four children.  She facilitated counseling training groups for men and women preparing for pastoral ministry, as well as several women's groups focusing on sexual abuse recovery.  Since returning to Charlotte in 2004, Bentley has taught preschool at Providence Presbyterian Church, offered individual, marriage, and group counseling for Carmel Counseling Center part time before joining PSCC in October, 2010, with her primary office being at Matthews Presbyterian Church.  She is available to see adult and adolescent individuals, couples, and families for anxiety, depression, self-harm, marriage and family issues, with a special interest and experience with those who have been sexually dishonored.  Ms. Ball accepts Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

Dr. Emily Engel

Emily Engel, Psy.D., LPA,  is a Clinical Psychologist specializing in child and adolescent psychology, trauma recovery and psychological testing.  She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology at Long Island University, C. W. Post Campus. In her externships, and in her pre-doctoral internship at Queens Children’s Psychiatric Center, she worked with children and adolescents in inpatient settings, in schools, and in outpatient clinics so has a deep appreciation of the range of problems young people can encounter.
