K-8 Music

Music - K-8 General Music; 6-8 Choir; Music Appriciation Exploritory

*Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music Education from Central College

*K-12 Endorsement

*I assist middle school students with preparing for Opus Honor Choir and Vocal/Piano Fine Arts and elementary students with preparations for the Grandparent's Day Concert.

*This is my third year at Pella Christian

*My husband, Laramie, and I have been married for three years.  God has blessed us with two beautiful daughters, Mollee, who is 2 and Lucy, who is 6 months.  As a family we enjoy playing outside, going to the park, bike rides, and nap time!

*I grew up in Newton, Iowa.  My father, Bill, is a Lieutenant with the Newton Police Department and my mother, Denell, works in glassware and shipping at Keystone Laboratories.  I have a younger brother, Bill, and a younger sister, Lynzey.   My niece, Angel, and nephew, Lliam, are way too much fun and in November my brother is getting married so I will have a new sister!

* I love to sing and play the piano.  I also enjoy being outside and I am brushing up on my sports with the help of Miss Mabie.  I also enjoy shopping for clothes for the girls and shoes for myself!

*Bachelor of Music Education from Hope College in Holland, MI in 2001

*I am certified to teach K-12 music and K-8 general classroom in Michigan, Nevada, and Iowa.

*Masters of Music in Education with Kodaly emphais from Capital University in Columbus, OH in 2006

*I completed my student teaching at Borculo Chrisian School in Zeeland, MI, then moved to Nevada to teach 5-12 band and choir in the Mineral County School District.  When I moved to Las Vegas, I taught K-5 general music in a year-round school for two years.

*I hold professional memberships in the Organization of American Kodaly Educators (OAKE) and the Music Education Association (MENC).

*I grew up near Bussey, IA and graduated from Twin Cedars High School.  My mom, Gloria, attended Pella Christian with her brothers and sister, and my dad, Eugene, attended Oskaloosa Christian.  My sister lives with her husband in Altoona.

*My husband, Dan, is from Columbus, Ohio and works in the alumni office at Grinnell College.  He is finishing up his Masters in Communication at UNLV (University of Nevada, Las Vegas).  We have a pet tarantula named Ben.  We recently joined First Presbyterian Church in Grinnell and will be faith group leaders this year.
