The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe
Family Reading Schedule
Our summer Sunday school classes for 2nd-5th grades will be studying The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis beginning June 8th. This is a 17-chapter book that can be read as a family activity during the week. Then on Sunday mornings we will review and discuss the week's chapter(s) and watch the corresponding section from the movie. Even if you are not here one Sunday morning or are on vacation, we encourage you to participate in this creative adventure.
On one level this story is a fantasy about the adventures of four children in the land of Narnia. However, on another level it portrays the battle of good against evil and the necessity of Christ's atoning sacrifice for all of us. C.S. Lewis has given us a literary masterpiece that expresses some of the most profound truths of the Christian religion. This story is an allegory in literature in which the great lion, Aslan, is a symbol for Jesus Christ.
