What is NICSTO?
Northwest Iowa Christian Schools Tuition Organization is the result of a new Iowa law allowing private donors to give money to families to help pay for tuition to private schools in exchange for a 65% tax credit (not a deduction) on their state income tax.
Then school families can apply to receive those funds in the form of scholarships if they fall below certain income requirements.
Donors
If you would like to donate to this wonderful opportunity you may do so at any time. You can contact Mr. Alons in the office, a finance committee member, or Henry Kramer, he is the administrator of the organization. His phone number is 712-737-8281.
You need 2 pieces of information with your donation check. The first is your social security number for tax credit purposes and the other is the school you would like your donation to go toward. You are not allowed to specify a specific family, but your donation will go toward a qualifying family from the school you choose. All the Christian schools in northwest Iowa are affiliated with the organization.
It is that easy. You will then get 65% of your donation back as a tax credit from the state of Iowa. Sanborn Christian school can collect over $24,300 in donations in 2008, which will generate almost $15,800 in tax credits.
