Dear Parents,
THANK YOU for all the Pizza Ranch orders! The fundraiser made $1,017.50. Remember to keep the wagon tabs off the boxes until the end of the school year!
Nominations for Auxiliary officers are:
President: Amy Vander Haag, Lisa Den Hartog
Secretary: Venessa Knoblock, Shelise Houge
Treasurer: Brenda De Boer, Susan Hofman
These offices will be voted on at our Thursday, May 8 meeting.
Please also be thinking of fund-raisers to vote on for next year.
Our last cookie bake is almost here! We will be baking on May 13 (order by noon May 12). This is our last bake before we take off for the summer. Cookies freeze well, so stock up for those busy summer days when the family is home from school! Call Tammy Solsma (729-3763) to order. Thanks for continuing to support our school! And thanks to all you moms for helping to make this fundraising a success. The Cookie Committee
School will be dismissed at 11:00 AM for the Dordt Track Meet on May 14. This will be an all school dismissal since the track meet involves all the 5 – 8 students and many younger siblings attend this meet as well. Please plan accordingly.
SCRIP NEWS: May 13 and May 20 are the last SCRIP order dates in May. Watch the School Bell for the summer ordering schedule.
STUDENTS OF SANBORN CHRISTIAN SCHOOL ~ get ready for our Jog-Walk-a-Thon! Students in all grades are asked to participate in a fun evening of walking/jogging for our school. Sponsor sheets have been sent home. Each student is to ask friends or family to sponsor them as they walk for SCS. Students can ask for a dollar amount per lap or a flat donation. Students will be following an approximately ¼ mile course in Miller park and volunteers will tally the laps (miles) made by each student. The top fundraiser from each class will get to pick a special prize for their effort. Each student will get a prize just for participating.
Following the event we will have hot dogs, chips and drinks for all participants and spectators. Family members are encouraged to come out and watch and enjoy the evening with us. Pre-K – 4th grade students will begin walking first and the students in grades 5-8 will take the second shift. We are excited to have this fun fundraiser again at SCS! Please mark your calendars for May 15, 2008, and dust off your walking shoes. Anyone may join the students as they walk and we know they would love to walk a bit with mom, grandpa or a friend. See you there on May 15!
From Mrs. Van Engen: During the last 6 weeks of summer, I will be offering summer band lessons. I suggest lessons especially for incoming 5th graders and those likely to try out for Honor Band (7th and 8th graders). Even graduating 8th graders may take them! The lessons will be for a half hour one day a week, starting probably the 2nd week in July. This is a great way to get back into playing shape, and to start preparing for Honor Band tryouts. Please contact me by the end of school so I can set up a schedule and time for your child. Have a great summer! Shirley Van Engen Phone: 712-470-4864 Email: shirleybuist@hotmail.com
Our Spring Concert is currently being aired on TCA’s local channel. It will be shown at 6:00 P.M.
Auxiliary still has some yellow, blue and white garbage bags for sale for all your spring-cleaning needs. They are $10.00 per roll. They are located in the teachers lounge (top shelf, east wall) and you can leave your money in the school office. Thank You!
Sincerely,
Jason Alons
