The faithful who gather together to await the Lord's coming are instructed by the Apostle Paul to sing psalms, hymns, and inspired songs (see Col 3:16). Song is the sign of the heart's joy (see Acts 2:46).4th edition of the "General Instruction of the Roman Missal" (GIRM)
God has gifted some individuals with the gift of song. If you are one of those people, prayerfully consider how you might lead the assembly in sung prayer. For more information, contact Lynda Trani, Director of Liturgy & Music, at 262-878-3476, #105, or tranil@smd-srb.org.
Cantor
The Cantor engages the assembly in sung participation in the Liturgy, and proclaims the Word of God while canting the Psalm. Cantors rehearse as a group seasonally, and during the week before canting for Mass.
Praise Burst Youth Band
Praise Burst Youth Band assists the assembly in sung participation in the Liturgy. Members may be asked to play instruments, cant the psalm or read announcements. Praise Burst participates in area collaboration with parish festivals and community events and ministers in group and parish activities.
UNITAS Choir
The UNITAS Choir is comprised of teens through senior adults. We increase vocal skills and learn 2-4 part music in a variety of styles appropriate to the Liturgy. We assist the assembly in sung participation and provide moving music appropriate to the Liturgical Season and celebration. We rehearse weekly during choir season: September- June.
Resurrection Funeral Choir
The Resurrection Choir is on an on-call basis. The Choir ministers to the mourners by assisting the assembly in sung participation in the Liturgy as well as providing select choral music.
Organist/Pianist
The Parish pianist/organist assists the assembly in hymn singing, accompanies the Cantor, and choir (during choir season) and provides 5- minute prelude and postlude music appropriate to the Liturgical Season and Celebration. The organist/pianist plays music provided or approved by the Dir. of Liturgy and Music who consults with the Pastor.
Instrumentalist
The liturgical musician enhances the music sung by the assembly, cantor and choir. The instrumentalist accompanies the keyboard which leads the assembly in song, and plays music provided or approved by the Dir. of Liturgy and Music.
Ensemble Singers
The Ensemble Singers are chosen from the cantors and choir members who may be asked to sing solos, duets and other small ensemble settings during Liturgy.
