Mom's on a Mission Meeting - Wed., Nov. 11th 9:30-11:00am - Click here for more details
2009-2010 School Calendar Tentative

On October 29th and 30th the 8th graders and their first grade buddies shared some Halloween fun. They began by carving pumpkins together and sharing treats. The 8th graders then took the seeds home and baked them. The next day they worked on “Pumpkin” math and science. They used the seeds to solve math problems and practice counting and then measured and checked to see if pumpkins float. Of course they ended the fun by eating the seeds!

As part of their Spanish class, 8th graders got a “taste” of the Mexican traditions of “The Day of the Dead.” The students are holding a “molinillo” which is used to mix and froth Mexican hot chocolate, a “pan de los muertos” (bread of the dead), and “calaveras” (decorated skulls).  In addition to sampling the hot chocolate and “pan de muertos,” each student also made a simple, rising-skeleton toy that would be popular among children as part of this tradition.
