Awana will be back in September with more fun and learning for children ages 3 to Grade 6.
What is AWANA?
The acronym AWANA comes from the first letters of the phrase, "Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed."
(2Timothy 2:15)
AWANA exists to reach children and youth with the Gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. AWANA uses a blend of (1) Council - a worship experience and presentation of the Bible appropriate to the needs of children and youth (2) Handbook Time - devoted to Scripture memory and understanding with as much one-on-one instruction and supervision as possible (3) Game Time - a highly charged and fast moving time of recreation and competition, supervised diligently by our trained staff.
About AWANA
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." (2 Timothy 2:15).
AWANA is an international, non-denominational, Bible-based organization whose goal is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.
AWANA consists of several different "clubs" within the entire organization ranging from Cubbies at the preschool level to Truth and Training, for grades 3rd to 6th.
AWANA Club Meetings:
Opening Ceremony
The purpose of the Opening Ceremony is to bring clubbers together at the beginning of the evening. It consists of prayer, Canadian and AWANA flag pledges, and general announcements.
Game Time
The purpose of Game Time is to provide structured fun that interests kids, but also teaches them the value of teamwork and acceptance.
Handbook Time
Handbook Time consists of scripture memorization, explanation and learning. Leaders provide one-on-one time with the clubbers answering their questions and listening.
Council Time
Council Time consists of a Bible-themed message to the clubbers.
Closing Ceremony
The Closing Ceremony consists of announcements, prayer, weekly awards, and dismissal. It takes place on the Game Square for sparks and in the auditorium for T&T.
Uniforms and Uniform Inspection:
An important part of AWANA is to establish unity and discipline within children (and leaders). AWANA uses uniforms to assist in this effort. Uniforms are also a neat place to display awards.
Uniforms are available to all clubbers after completing their entrance booklets. Please contact the AWANA Commander if you should have any concerns about the uniforms.
Theme Nights and Special Events:
Every year we will be holding theme nights to encourage participation among the leaders and clubbers of our AWANA Club - also because theme nights are a lot of fun!
Dues:
Dues are requested, but not required by AWANA Clubbers. The 50 cents per week, or $16 yearly (per child), aids us in off-setting costs associated with the program. These costs include prizes and AWANA materials.
