Athletic Accomplishments

Accomplishments of the men and women who have worked very hard to make the St. Rita Athletic Program the best in Rockford.

In Having Fun

St. Rita was tops!!!

On the Soccer Field:

Of our four Soccer teams this Fall: one was in 1st, one was in 2nd, and one was in 3rd place in their leagues this fall.

On the Volleyball Court

Of our six Volleyball teams last spring: Three were 1st in their divisions, two were 2nd and one finished in 3rd place

In Basketball

Of our ten Basketball teams last winter: two were in 1st place, four were in 2nd and two were in 3rd.  Our Cheerleaders were great!

In Sportsmanship

None of our teams received sportsmanship technical fouls or yellow/red cards!!

In Finances

St. Rita Athletics has the lowest family/player fee of any sports group or Parish in the city. All children in a family 5th through 8th grade can play any or all of our sports for one low $75 fee. We receive no subsidy from the Parish (with the exception  of the badly needed painting of the gym so we could accomplish this sooner than our budget would permit.) This is made possible by our two huge basketball tournaments each year. Thanks to all those who are helping us this year!!!

In addition, St. Rita Athletics gives back to the Parish by taking charge of the care of the gym. In just the past few years we have:

Installed a new Scorer’s Table

Sanded and refinished all boards in the bleachers

Replaced all broken bleacher boards

Repaired the bleacher safety brakes

Repaired the water damaged portions of the gym floor

Put safety railings and safety boards on bleachers

Stripped, repainted and coated gym floor

Sealed floor every year

Replaced ceiling bulbs as needed

Replaced scoreboard bulbs as needed

Replaced light fixtures in entry way

Replaced wall mats

Hired professionals to clean gym

Painted Gym (With the help of the Parish)

Before the gym was painted all cracks (large and small) where repaired

Built and installed Trophy Case

Relocated amplifier box and purchased new microphone

(A new amplifier and speakers will be installed soon)

Made wiring on the gym walls neater

Purchased and installed banners to decorate the gym

Installed  5 new gym doors, three interior and two exterior and had them painted and Installed new kick plates on all 5 doors.

(With the help of Buildings and Grounds)
Hung the American Flag

Donated balls to the Extended Card Program

Purchased a backup scoreboard

On an on-going basis: replaced uniforms, bought new balls (for basketball and volleyball), bought cheerleading uniforms and supplies.

Offered coaches clinics.
