After graduating from Western Illinois University, I began teaching Kindergarten in 1997 in San Diego California. Mt. Erie Christian Academy was my home for the next three years where I taught Kindergarten and Second Grade.
After the birth of my daughter, I then moved to St. Louis Missouri where I taught at Holy Family Catholic School. I was the 7th grade teacher, teaching Social Studies, Religion and Language Arts, as well as K-8 computers. I designed a computer curriculum for all grades that was carried throughout several other schools. I also began taking classes in computer education, working towards a Master’s degree.
After the birth of my son, I wanted to stay home, so I worked part time at an embroidery shop. This was a hobby for me so it was fun work. I continued to work in that field when I moved home to Rockford in 2004. Even though it was a fun job, I really wanted to get back to teaching. God lead me to St. Rita's. I am fortunate to have been lead to a wonderful school with excellent students. The third grade classroom has been my current home for the last four years.
I am the mother of two wonderful children, Samantha and Sean. I have two cats, Sophie and Blackie, and am the long term care provider for two Labs, Hank and George who were homeless. My family occupies most of my time when I am not working on my Master’s degree in Reading. It is my hope to bring St. Rita School a licensed Reading Specialist in 2010.
I enjoy scrapbooking, rubber stamping and machine embroidery. I like to read, though I don't have much time to enjoy it. Most of all, I love my job!
