CHURCH ACCOUNTABILITY

Kidsafe Certification Program

Please review the following accountability standards and scroll down to view the accountability compliance checklist

How we serve and how the church is accountable

for protecting kids from sexual abuse

1.  We serve by working with your church leaders &  youth workers to train them to identify and deal with suspicious behaviors, how to avoid false accusations, and build communication skills to avoid misunderstandings between a youth worker and a teen/child.

Church will demonstrate initial training materials are being completed by all church leaders and youth workers.

2.  We serve by being available for consultation regarding church policies on children and youth work.  We serve by reviewing your child abuse reporting plan.

Church will submit a child abuse reporting plan.

3.  We serve by providing on-going training materials.

Church will demonstrate on-going training are completed by church leaders and youth workers.

4.  We serve by assigning a Christian professional with years of experience working with sex offenders to your church.

Church will demonstrate an on-going open communication with our ministry about safety issues in their church including any sexual abuse allegations and suspicious behaviors.

Church will consult with Keeping Kids Safe when there is a discovery of a visitor, church member, or leader with a history of sexual offending.

How we serve and how the church is accountable

dealing with registered or repentant offenders

1.  We serve by assigning a Christian professional with years of experience working with sex offenders to your church.

Church will demonstrate an on-going open communication with our ministry about safety issues relating to known offenders and registered offenders who attend church.

2.  We serve by helping your church leaders verify if registered offenders are meeting treatment and probation expectations prior to any offender attending church or identified as a churchgoer.

Church will demonstrate that verification forms are being sent and completed by probation and treatment providers when working with an offender who has been on probation or in treatment.  Church will demonstrate ministering to offenders outside of church while waiting on response from probation or treatment providers.

3.   We serve by providing a "Church Covenant of Accountability" with expectations and rules for registered offenders to comply with and demonstrate he/she is seeking God instead of seeking children, and being accountable.

Church will demonstrate that covenant/accountability partners have been assigned to any person with a known offending history.

4.  We serve by working with your senior church leaders to implement a policy to deal with offenders who worship in secret.  We provide methods for hidden offenders to stop their secretive church attendance and replace secrecy with spiritual growth and accountability.

Church will demonstrate paving the way for hidden registered offenders in the church to enter into accountability.  A church leader will preach a message encouraging hidden offenders to replace secrecy with accountability

5.  We serve by providing you with a daily spiritual accountability program for repentant offenders in your church.

Church will consult with us about the participation of any registered offender using this program.
