Sunday School

Part of a vital church is an active Sunday School program.  This supports the spiritual growth of individual members as well as the growth of the church body.

We have classes for children and youth.  This includes Kindergarten through 12th grade.  For adults we have the Mariners class.

All classes are from 9:15 - 10:00 and everyone is encouraged to participate.  We'd love to have overflow conditions and we are certainly willing to start more classes as we grow.

NEW! Classes with the Pastor!

Sunday School for Junior High through Adult

In thinking of preparation, we are preparing for Sunday School and Bible studies that will start in January.  I will be leading a Sunday School class for junior and senior high students, as well as any adults who wish to attend, looking at Faith Questions about God, a curriculum published by our denomination that will look at such questions as 'Where is God', 'Who is God' and 'Why Did God allow Sin into the World'.  Each lesson encourages us to look to scripture and our faith tradition, and how they apply to our daily lives.  So come and learn about our faith together.  Stay tuned to find out where this class will be meeting.

Adult Bible Study

Also, have you ever wanted to learn more about Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the patriarchs of our faith?  Beth Moore is a Christian author, teacher and Bible study leader who has developed a DVD series called The Patriarchs.  She's a dynamic and engaging speaker who I have heard in person and enjoyed immensely.  The series will last about 12 weeks and will meet during the week.  Each person will need a workbook (which costs $20, but if this is a hardship please let me know, we don't want finances to prevent anyone from Bible study), and in preparation for each week's lesson there are 5 days of homework which need to be read and questions answered.  Each weekly session lasts 2 hours, with the first hour being class discussion of the homework readings and questions, and then approximately an hour DVD lecture presented by Beth Moore, filling in the listening guide which is also in our workbooks.

A note about our Mariners:
The Mariners is a group of adults who have been meeting continuously since 1940! They meet each Sunday from 9:15 - 10:00 am in the Smith Room.  The Mariners often will go back and forth between the Old and New Testaments using The Present Word curriculum. This class is open to sharing concerns and its members feel free to express their opinions.
