Below is a list of the ministries and causes financially supported by Sioux Center URC.
ATLAS: This local ministry mentors and facilitates mentoring for those hurting in various ways, coming alongside them in the name of Christ to both the churched and unsaved. ATLAS currently facilitates the operation of both a men's and women's accountability house to provide temporary housing and rehabilitative support for those struggling with negative behaviors. The Banquet: The Banquet is a feeding ministry located in downtown Sioux Falls, SD, that serves hungry people in the community in the spirit of dignity and respect. The Banquets provide a safe place where people can gather to receive food for the body and soul. Their mission is to equip volunteers to provide food and fellowship to those in need. http://www.thebanquetsf.org/
Bethany Christian Services: Their mission is to manifest the love and compassion of Jesus Christ by protecting and enhancing the lives of children and families through quality social services. This ministry provides a wide range of services, but thus far Sioux Center URC has specifically supported their orphan care and local abstinence education. http://www.bethany.org
Bible League: Previously known as the World Home Bible League, this ministry is best known for distributing the Scriptures worldwide. They provide bibles to individuals, new churches, and the persecuted church. They also work with Bible translation agencies to make the Scriptures available in the 'heart languages' of people groups worldwide. http://www.bibleleague.org
The Bridge: This local ministry based in Orange City seeks to provide transitional housing for women and children who are homeless or near homeless. Their goal is to provide safe housing, to enhance life skills, to stabilize income and budget management, to obtain educational and/or gainful employment opportunities, to increase self-awareness of relational patterns, and to seek wholeness and restoration. http://www.thebridgehousing.org
Covenant URC (Prinsburg, MN): This newest church plant in our classis is located in central Minnesota. It is supervised by Cornerstone URC in Sanborn and seeks to be a confessionally Reformed witness in that town. http://www.covenanturc.org
Crossroad Bible Institute: This ministry equips the church to disciple people in prison with the Word of God wherever they are incarcerated. It is a personal, in-depth and long-term program that is designed to help incarcerated persons grow in a life-transforming relationship with Jesus Christ, preparing them for and assisting them in successful reentry upon release. Part of this ministry is the grading of study material by volunteers. http://www.crossroadbible.org
Dordt College: As an institution of higher education committed to the Reformed Christian perspective, the mission of Dordt College is to equip students, alumni, and the broader community to work effectively toward Christ-centered renewal in all aspects of contemporary life. Students from the United Reformed Churches make up the second largest denominational group of the college. http://www.dordt.edu
Rev. Bill Green: Publisher, missionary, and minister, Rev. Bill Green is based in Costa Rica but work throughout Latin America. He assists with Tepeyac Christian School and the local church, publishes books and other educational materials, and travels around the region providing training and encouragement for pastors and laymen. He is Executive Secretary for CLIR (Confraternidad Latinoamericana de Iglesias Reformadas) that was founded in 1994 to provide a forum for fellowship and joint ministry among Reformed and Presbyterian churches. Hope Haven: This organization based in Rock Valley is committed to the special creation of God that is the human being; encouraging the realization of dreams, desires, and aspirations, valuing gifts, talents, and contributions, sharing accountability for individual and community growth. Serving the needs of disabled persons is one of their core services, but Hope Haven extends beyond that to facilitate adult living, vocation development, counseling, and psychiatric services. http://www.hopehaven.org
Justice For All: This local minstry based in Rock Valley seeks to promote Biblical justice and reconciliation, by encouraging and equipping volunteers, empowering the poor, and partnering with other ministries that share a commitment to Christian community development. Some of the concrete ways include the organization of work projects in coordination with existing neighborhood ministries in poor and disenfranchised urban and rural settings, and a warehouse ministry which distributes good clothing, household items, toys, building supplies, furniture and appliances to ministries across the nation and the world. http://www.jfa-nwiowa.org
Miami International Seminary (MINTS): This seminary takes a unique approach to provide ministry training: rather than bring the students to the seminary or through letter/e-mail correspondence, MINTS sends professors to where the students are so that they can study in their own culture and locale. This allows for mentorship, skills development, interaction, contextualization, and the establishment of a study center that could grow into a local seminary for the residents. Based in Miami, this seminary primarily serves Central and South America but other areas as well. Some if MINTS material is obtained from Third Millennium. http://www.mints.edu
Mid-America Reformed Seminary (MARS): Mid-America's mission is to prepare pastors as faithful servants of the Word and sacrament in the heritage of Reformed and Presbyterian Churches. Founded in 1981 in Orange City, Iowa, the seminary currently resides in Dyer, Indiana. The seminary supplies a significant portion of new ministers for the United Reformed Churches. http://www.midamerica.edu
Middle East Reformed Fellowship (MERF): This ministry serves in the Middle East on behalf of Reformed Family of Churches and believers worldwide. Based in Cyprus, it evangelizes through broadcast radio, is a church extension through training and literature, provides biblical training, and delivers diaconal aid. http://www.merf.org El Pacto de Gracia (Covenant of Grace): This church plant is the outreach ministry of Faith URC (Beecher, IL) reaching Spanish speaking people in the greater Chicago Heights area. Rev. Eric Pennings, Hispanic Christian Ministry (HCM): Professor and Associate Academic Dean for MINTS, Rev. Pennings seeks to train leaders in Central America. He is supervised by Covenant Reformed Church of Toronto. http://missionsurc.org/?q=node/82
Rev. Mitchell Persaud: Rev. Persaud has been working as a church planter and evangelist among the Muslims in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) since 1997. Part of that work includes New Horizon United Reformed Church, a church plant established in April 1999 and located in Scarborough, Ontario. Rev. Persaud and the church are under the supervision of Cornerstone URC in London, Ontario. http://www.newhorizonchurch.ca
Providence Christian College: Providence views the college experience holistically, seeking to educate mind, body, and soul in unity. A strong liberal arts education forms the basis of the college's approach. Each course is taught from a Reformed, biblical perspective, emphasizing critical thinking, analytical skills, effective communication, and research abilities that prepare graduates to succeed vocationally as well as to serve as leaders in their churches, families, and the broader community. Providence United Reformed Fellowship: This church plant in the southwest Chicago area, begun in November 2007, is supervised by Lynwood URC (Lynwood, IL). Sometimes referred to as the "Tinley Park" church plant, the group currently meets on the campus of Trinity Christian College. http://www.providenceurc.org
Reformed Faith and Life (RFL): Using radio, television, cassettes, and literature this ministry present God's Word from a distinctly Reformed perspective. The broadcast ministry of this organization is 'Christians for Armenia', the fruit of Rev. A.R. Reformed Youth Services (RYS): This youth ministry organization is dedicated to ministering the timeless truths of the historic reformed faith to covenant youth. RYS is committed to the spiritual and social nurturing of young people. They are most well known for their annual national convention, but also organize a two week summer program called STEP, regional retreats, and a post-high singles event called "LOGOS". Reformed Youth Services is accountable to a representative board and ultimately supervised by the consistory of Cornerstone URC in Hudsonville, MI. http://www.reformedyouthservices.org
Sioux Center Christian School: The mission of Sioux Center Christian School is to develop in each of God's children a knowledge and understanding of Christ and His creation so that they can obediently serve God and others as they work and play. http://www.siouxcenterchristian.com
Sioux City Gospel Mission: This mission provides shelter and food to those who need it in Sioux City. They also operate a women and children's shelter. http://www.siouxcitygospelmission.org
Sioux Falls United Reformed Church Fellowship: This is a church plant in our classis supervised by Hills URC (Hills, MN). This church seeks to be a distinctively Reformed church to reach the city of Sioux Falls, SD, for Christ. This church has been meeting since September 2005 and called their first minister in December 2006. http://www.sfurc.org
Third Millennium Ministries: This ministry seeks to provide Christian education to pastors around the world who lack sufficient training for ministry. This goal is accomplished by publishing and globally distributing free multilingual, multimedia, digital seminary curriculum in English, Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Russian and Spanish. One of our church's members, Norlan De Groot, works with and for this organization by developing and writing the script for the videos. http://www.thirdmill.org
Westminster Seminary California (WSCAL): Westminster Seminary California is a Christian institution seeking to glorify God through graduate theological study. Its primary responsibility is to educate future pastors for Christian churches, especially for Presbyterian and Reformed denominations. It also provides theological education for others who will serve in the Christian community and the larger society. Whitehorse Inn: On both the old medium of radio and on the internet via podcasts, this nearly twenty-year old ministry strives to recover and spread the central truths of the Reformation: the sufficiency of Scripture, the centrality of Christ, the freedom of grace, the foundation of faith, and the focus on God's glory. Hosted by Dr. Michael Horton, professor of apologetics and systematic theology at Westminster Seminary California, he is a member of Christ United Reformed Church (Santee, CA). http://www.whitehorseinn.org
Word and Deed Ministries: Word & Deed is an evangelical and Reformed humanitarian aid organization partnering with Christian churches and organizations in the developing world. Its mission is to improve the lives of needy people in the developing world both materially and spiritually in obedience to Christ's command to 'love our neighbor as our self.'
