Crossroad Bible Institute Prison Ministry
Crossroad Bible Institute (CBI) links church members with prisoners who are involved in CBI?s weekly Bible study programs. Church members volunteers are trained to correct the lessons and write letters of encouragement to prisoners each week. Contact Shirley Van Heukelem (303.733.4936 ext. 13 or firstcrc-shirley@qwestoffice.net) for more information about this important ministry that can be done from the comfort of your home at a time that works in your schedule.
Living Water International
First CRC sends 2-3 teams yearly to Latin American sites to drill wells through Living Water International (LWI), based in Houston, TX. The wells supply fresh, clean water to communities where clean water is not available or villagers have to travel long distances to get their water. Contact Al Wassenaar, through the church office or email, if you are interested in this ministry.

Project Serve
Stamping Class

We meet once a month on Saturday afternoons from 1-3 in the library to make greeting cards through the art of rubber stamping and paper crafting. There are some women that attend nearly every month, others drop in from time to time.   There are three or four of the participants that take turns creating a project for the month.  We usually do two cards for each class.  Supplies are provided for anyone that wants to attend at no cost.

Sew & Sews

For over 40 years, the Sew & Sew?s group has been meeting at First Church!  This group of ladies meets every other week in the Library to create blankets, layettes, hats and other needed items for local and international orphanages and outreach centers.  Their donations have been sent all over the world - to the Ukraine and Africa as well as locally here to Bethany and the Joshua Station and many other organizations with a  need.  Their current projects include making blankets for the Joshua Station and warm hats for an orphanage in the Ukraine.  If you would like to be a part of furthering this ministry, they can use blanket binding, fleece and flannel materials.  Additionally, gift cards to Joanne Fabrics would be well used.  Of course, you are invited to join with them on Thursday morninings as well!  We give thanks for their willingness and passion to use their God given gifts and talents to touch these lives in this way.

Kid's Hope USA

Women's Ministry at Joshua Station

Joshua Station, under the auspices of Mile High Ministries, offers transitional housing to people who otherwise would be on the streets.  Joshua Station offers them an 18-month program that encourages them to find permanent employment and counsels them on such things as budgeting, parenting, job searching, etc.

First CRC partners with Joshua Station by offering a women's time of fellowship that meets every Tuesday night.  This fellowship time includes going out to eat, doing crafts on site, going to movies and other activities.  The evenings end in a time of sharing prayer requests.  First CRC has also funded some material for a Bible study that is held on site on another day.

For more information on the Women's Ministry at Joshua Station, contact Cyndi Berghuis at 303.290.9534.

Bonfils Blood Drives
First CRC partners with Bonfils Blood Center twice a year by hosting an on-site blood drive. These typically take place on Wednesday afternoon?s from 1pm to 6:30pm, one in the fall and one in the spring. Check the church calendar for specific dates each year.
GROWING IN CHRIST
Sunday School

Youth Sunday Education Program

The FACTS:

ü     The Youth Sunday Education Program at First Christian Reformed Church is offered to all children two years of age through High School.

ü      The Sunday school year begins in September and concludes in May.

ü     The Education Hour at First CRC begins at 11:00am in the classroom and ends at noon in the Sanctuary.

ü     Friends and visitors are always welcomed and encouraged to attend.

The DETAILS:

ü     Sunday School is about discipleship, fellowship, and growing and learning about Christ and His love for us.  We will begin with a time of fellowship, singing, and offering our gifts to God.  Children will then participate in age-appropriate lessons.

ü      The curriculum focuses on God?s love for us, as illustrated throughout the many stories in the Bible, with time for discussion and application to daily living.

ü      Sunday School is offered for children age 2 years through 2nd grade.  Their time begins in the classroom with fellowship and snacks as well as an age appropriate, creative lesson and ends together in song in the Sanctuary.

ü      Magnify and Focus is offered for kids in 3rd-8th grades.  The hour begins with 30 minutes of Magnify, a time where kids are offered choices in their learning topic and style with kids of all ages.  This is a creative way that we involve our youth into the mission and body of First CRC.  The hour ends with 30 minutes of Focus, a time in the classroom with fellowship and snacks as well as an age appropriate, creative lesson.

ü      Catechism is offered for our High Schoolers.  The hour is focused on equipping our children to be mature Disciples of Christ and adult members of His church.  Reformed doctrine, ethics, apologetics, Biblical themes, worship and church history are included in this teaching.

The GOALS:

ü      The goal for the Sunday School program and teachers is to TEACH BEYOND THE STORY by:

ü      building relationships,

ü     being mentors and examples to the children and

ü     encouraging and teaching each child how to take these lessons into their homes, onto their playgrounds, into their schools and into their lives.

All children ages 2 through 12th grade are invited to participate in Sunday Education programs from 11:00am ? 12:00pm each Sunday morning.   Parents are asked to drop off their children in the following locations.  We request that parents sign in/out for 2 years old through 2nd grade:

·        2 & 3 year olds:  Room 11

·        4 year olds:  Room 32

·        Kindergarten:  Room 30

·        1st & 2nd grade:  Room 31

·        Magnify 3rd ? 8th grade:  Room 12

·        Grades 9-12:  Room 33

·        Nursery is available in Rm 10 for children under age 2
