Covenant Presbyterian Church
Covenant Presbyterian Church is located in Omaha, Nebraska. This church was organized in 1893 - Covenant's rich heritage spans 110 years! Currently Covenant offers two worship services on Sunday mornings (8:30 am and 11:00 am) featuring blended music styles.
Pastor Jeremy Grant was called to Covenant in 1999. Jeremy attended the 1st Annual Presbyterian Seeking Purpose Driven Ministry Conference in April 2003 and Covenant began its journey to become a purpose-driven church! The leaders of Covenant refined their mission and vision statement to include the 5 purposes Worship, Fellowship, Discipleship, Ministry, and Evangelism. Their emphasis on the importance of becoming a church "on purpose" has led to growth - both spiritually and in attendance!
Covenant studied Saddleback and Trinity's version of the C.L.A.S.S. 101, 201 and 301 process. A new member class called "Adult Christian 101: Discovering Covenant" is an 8-week class for people to discover what Covenant is all about and what it means to be a member.
Since the transition, Covenant has seen growth in commitment to Life Groups. They participated in Saddleback's "40 Days of Purpose" program in the fall of 2003. After the growth they witnessed during this spiritual renewal, over 100 new people became committed to Life Groups and 12 groups started the "Doing Life Together" study. Almost one half of the congregation are in a group or deeper discipleship study. Not to mention the development of Life Groups in the student ministry program!
One of fruits of Covenants decision to become a purpose-driven church has been the greater commitment among its members to ministry. At this time, approximately 40% of their members are serving in a ministry. Discovering their unique SHAPE for ministry has led to growth in this area.
