Information for Parents

Youth Club is a special after school program for children in grades 5 through 7, at Windy Cove Presbyterian Church. It has continued to bless and encourage the children of our community for over 20 years! Some of our current students are now sons and daughters of former Youth Club members! We seek to provide Christian fellowship, fun, and instruction for young people in our community.

Each week we have music, recreation, a shared meal, and Bible class. We sing, learn Bible verses, play games, and study the Bible to find answers for life's problems and questions. We also enjoy a good meal prepared by our great volunteers (parents and teen helpers) in the kitchen.

We meet for five Thursdays each fall and spring, after school until 7:00 PM. With parent's permission, the children will be able to ride their school bus to the church, but parents will need to pick children up when Youth Club is over. If this is a problem for your family, we will be glad to arrange help with transportation home.

We always look forward to taking some sort of trip together after Youth Club. A child must attend three of the five sessions to be eligible for the trip. The time and destination will be announced at the first Youth Club meeting.

We do not have a paid staff for Youth Club, therefore, it is important for you to know that we need you, as parents, to help prepare and serve the meals. Please volunteer for at least one Thursday (but more, if possible!). This task involves coming to the church and chopping vegetables, making lemonade, setting the tables, serving the food, making more lemonade, (!) and washing up. Please help out by volunteering and sign up on the registration form. You may also be called about preparing dishes at home or bringing needed food items to the church for a specific meal.

A registration fee of $5.00 will help to pay the cost of materials and food. However, scholarships are available if needed. Simply check the scholarship space on the registration form.

The Windy Cove congregation loves kids - muddy feet, exuberant spirits, noisy chatter and all. We are excited about this opportunity. We know that children who have participated in the past have had a good experience of fun and Christian growth. We hope you will agree and sign up your children for Youth Club!
