Another year of Cadets is starting, but before we start let me explain a little of what Cadeting is all about. Cadeting is an outgrowth of a boy's organization known as the "Christian Boys Club League" which began in the early 1950's. The Calvinist Cadet Corps was actually formed when the name and first constitution were adopted on October 16, 1952. The goal of the Calvinist Cadet Corps is to help boys grow spirtitually in areas of life, (devotional, mental, physical and social) by providing Christian men with a uniquely designed structure, program and materials.
The Cadet program at Bethel starts with the 2nd grade and goes through the 8th grade. The 2nd & 3rd graders are called Jr. Cadets, 4th grade Recruits, 5th grade Pathfinders, 6th grade Builders, 7th & 8th graders work as Guides. We meet in the church basement on the 1st & 3rd Wednesday each month form 7:00-8:30 PM.
We start each meeting with prayer and opening ceremonies, followed by each group going to a class room for group Bible lesson, badge work and projects. At the end of the night we gather for announcements and closing prayer.
We have special activities planned throughout the year; the Illiana Council Campout, Christmas party, and a Pinewood Derby race.
If anyone would like to help or join our club, we would love to have you!
