"Praying Always!"
Today's Text:
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.
Ephesians 6:18 - KJV
Pray in the Spirit at all times. Pray with all kinds of prayers, and ask for everything you need. To do this you must always be ready. Never give up. Always pray for all God's people.
Ephesians 6:18 - Easy To Read Version
Good Morning! Welcome to Harvest Fellowship, "Virtual Church!
Thank you for joining us. We invite you to rejoice together with us as we study God's wonderful Word today!
Have you ever wondered why it seems so hard to take time to pray? We are busy people, but too busy to pray?
Prayer is the greatest power in the universe...because God answers prayer!
We pray in faith, in the Name and authority of Jesus, and God provides His Almighty power to answer our prayers! Pretty simple, yet again we ask, why do we not take the time to pray more often?
The reasons for not "praying always" (consistently) revolve around two main areas...our flesh (old human nature - selfishness) and satanic opposition.
Many times we allow our old, fallen nature to determine what we do. "I'm too busy to pray right now." I'm too tired to pray." "I'll pray after I watch TV." But as Christians, we have a new, nature, that desires to do things God's way, and not our own, selfish way.
The Spirit and the flesh are in a constant battle for control of what we choose to do. Therefore, we must choose to "walk" (do what the Holy Spirit leads us to do) in the Spirit, and not fulfill the lusts (desires) of our old fallen nature (Galatians 5:16-17).
And as we surrender our lives to live by the Holy Spirit's leading, we can overcome our fleshly, selfish nature and do the things the Lord would want us to do...like doing powerful, fervent, persevering prayer!
We also must remember we are in a spiritual battle against the devil in this life. And since prayer is such a powerful weapon against the devil and his plans, he will try to deter us from praying. Circumstances, tiredness, business, discouragement...you name it...the devil will try to use these things to stop us from praying.
But we have something the devil never will have, the awesome power and anointing of the Holy Spirit! Hallelujah! God the Spirit lives in us and He will help us to pray...
Likewise the Holy Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Romans 8:26
Our job is to never give up...to keep praying...to keep yielding to the Spirit as He leads us to pray...choosing to do things God's way...and we will pray! And our prayers will be fervent, powerful, effective, and have wonderful results! (James 5:16).
Let's Pray Together...
Dear Lord, thank you for the privilege of prayer! I ask...you answer...it's that simple! Hallelujah! How amazing and wonderful that I can "change the world" through prayer!
Please forgive me Lord, for those times I have "put-off" praying to follow selfish pursuits. I desire to always take time to pray! Today and each day, I want to be a "prayer warrior" and an "intercessor" for others. Open my eyes to see how much good I can do for others and for your Kingdom when I pray!
And I praise you Lord for answering my prayers and for using me to strengthen the lives of others through prayer...Amen!
For those who would like to receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior or for those who would like to re-dedicate their lives to Him...Please pray with us...
Dear Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally as my Savior, Lord, and Friend. I believe you died on that cross and rose again so I could be forgiven.
Thank you for willingly suffering and dying on that horrible cross for me.
I believe that you rose again and are alive. I ask that you would forgive my sins and mistakes, come into my life, and be my Lord and Savior. Thank you Lord for forgiving me, loving me, and for taking me back...Amen.
Closing Song:
"Change My Heart O God!"
"God fulfills His plans through the prayers of His people!"
