Steps to protect your health during the flu crisis

Take these everyday steps to protect your health and teach your children to do the same.

  • At church ....Hand sanitizer is located throughout the church building.  Please use liberally.   Also, in precaution of illness, children will receive pretzels at the end of Children?s Time in snack baggies.  Additional measures of disinfecting surfaces and toys are in effect.

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it. Or cough into your elbow.

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.  Help children to do the same.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.

  • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.

  • Do not go to work, school or church if you are sick. The CDC recommends that you limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.

  • Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other social distancing measures.

  • In Church, be aware of the "3 feet social distance rule" so that people are not offended by lack of hugs or shaking hands. Rather than hugging or shaking hands during the Passing of the Peace, worshippers can simply smile and say the words

  • If you don't have one yet, consider developing a family emergency plan as a precaution. This should include storing a supply of extra food, medicines, facemasks and other essential supplies.

  • Visit the CDC Web site for additional information.
