Pastor Kenneth L. Loehrke - Senior Pastor

The Reverend Kenneth L. Loehrke, son of the late Selma and Mathew Loehrke, was born April 30, 1945. In the fall of 1959, he attended high school at Concordia College, Milwaukee, in preparation for the ministry. Following attendance at the Senior College at Fort Wayne, Indiana, he received his bachelor of arts degree in the spring of 1967. In the spring of 1971, the final year at the seminary, a master of divinity was conferred by Concordia Theological Seminary of Springfield, Illinois. The Rite of Ordination took place on July 18, 1971.
Pastor Loehrke served his first parish, Christ Lutheran, Abbotsford, Wisconsin from 1971 to 1982. He then accepted the call to St. Paul's Lutheran of Beatrice, Nebraska and served from 1982 to 1988. The then went to Bethany Lutheran of Kohler, Wisconsin and served from 1988 to 2000. He accepted Pella's call in September, 2000, being installed October 1.
The marriage of Valerie Matthews and seminarian Loehrke took place in Juneau, Wisconsin on August 2, 1969. Their children are son, Todd and daughter-in-law, Ann of DePere, Wisconsin and daughter Claudia of Austin, Texas.
His recreational interests include canoeing, roller-blading, cross-country skiing, backpacking, and camping.
His Scriptural character role-model is Barnabus, "who has the gift of encouragement." |

Pastor David J. Stevens - Associate Pastor

David Jeremy Stevens was born February 11, 1978. He spent many of his formative years growing up in Portage, Wisconsin. It was in 2nd grade that David decided to enter the ministry. There were many people who supported David in this decision, especially his mother, Lorraine, and his pastor of 20 years, Pastor Alan Boeck.
Pastor Stevens graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin in May of 2000. He began his seminary training in the fall of 2000. His vicarage was served at Peace Lutheran Church, Fresno, California. On April 23, 2004, Pastor Stevens was called to serve as Associate Pastor at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Sheboygan, Wisconsin. It was during this time that two big life events occurred. On April 28, 2006 he married Leesl (nee Bahr) of Milwaukee and on February 23, 2007, Bethany Anastasia Stevens was born.
After three plus years of service at St. Paul's, Pastor Stevens was led by the Holy Spirit to serve as Associate Pastor here at Pella Lutheran. His favorite Bible passage was given to him at the time of his Confirmation, Psalm 55:22, Cast your burdens upon the Lord, and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be moved. |

Lora L. Krueger - Secretary

Lora Krueger was born in Ft. Crowder, Missouri, on December 29, 1954, to Laurel and Alice Kramer. Lora's family moved to Waupun in 1963 where she graduated from Waupun High School in 1973. She married Randy Krueger on October 12, 1974 and they have two sons: Kurt and his wife, Tammy of West Chicago, IL; and Jeffrey and his wife, Stephanie of Oshkosh, WI. They have been blessed with a grandson, Trenton Chase Krueger, born on June 17, 2008.
Lora worked in the banking industry for 25 years before becoming Church Secretary in 1999. She also serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Preschool. |

| Edward H. Bernthal - Director of Christian Education - Emeritus

Mr. Edward H Bernthal was born in Frankenmuth, Michigan on April 3, 1923. He attended St. Lorenz Lutheran Elementary School and graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw, Michigan in 1941. He then attended Concordia Teachers' College, River Forest, Illinois, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1946.
Mr. Bernthal has served St. John's Lutheran Church in Galveston, Texas as Teacher, Principal, and Music Director from 1946-1956, Trinity Lutheran Church in Racine, Wisconsin as Teacher and Director of Music from 1956-1972. During this time he received a Master of Arts in Education degree from Concordia Teachers' College, River Forest, Illinois in 1963.
Ed was called to Pella as Director of Christian Education and Music in 1972, and served till retirement in 1988. He now serves in a voluntary capacity emeritus status.
His community activities include: Chairman of the Waupun Salvation Army Service Extension Unity, "Non-clergy" member of the Waupun Area Christian Ministerial Association, Coordinator of the annual CROP Hunger Walk, active in Waupun SHARE food program and food pantry, and the Waupun Kiwanis Club. |
