Pastor Norm Steen - Senior Pastor

Hi! I've been the Pastor here for almost 10 years now. I'm married to Barbara. She's a nurse at Providence Hospital in northeast D. C. She grew up in Chicago. I grew up in L. A. We've had the privilege of living in several places since we married over 35 years ago: Parkersburg, Iowa, Ridgewood, New Jersey, and Holland, Michigan - with brief stints in Ogden, Utah, Calgary, Alberta, and Hamilton, Ontario. In each place I've pastored or served on the staff of Christian Reformed Churches.
I attended Westmont College in Santa Barbara, California and graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids in 1971. Later I attended Calvin Seminary, graduating in 1976. After 4 years as the Pastor in Parkersburg, Iowa, I returned to Calvin Seminary to work on a master's degree in New Testament. I love to study the Bible, church history, theology, plus history and literature in general. And I'm constantly reading books about different places in the world.
I love music (all kinds), books, football and basketball (increasingly as a spectator), trees, Rock Creek Park, riding my bike, playing guitar, singing, walking around the city, the mountains, the woods, and the sea shore - and finding out about the world. Right now that search is focussed on Washington, D. C. I'm trying to become one of the world's great experts on this city. Since our kids are pretty well grown up, my wife and I have lots of opportunity for that.
And I love God! I'm so glad that the Lord Jesus sought me out and brought me to himself and into his kingdom. My job is studying the Word (the Bible) so I can preach it and teach it to the people God regularly gathers in here at the DC CRC. The other big part of my job is being a pastor to all the people that come into the force field of the church. |

Pastor Morris Ledbetter - Associate Pastor

| I am married to a godly woman from Clinton, Oklahoma. We have four sons and one daughter, ages thirty-five, twenty-two, twenty, sixteen, and fourteen. My mother and dad are from North Carolina. I have two sisters and four brothers. I am the third child. We were born and raised in Washington, DC.
I enjoy learning. Along with receiving local, national and international news I explore different intellectual frontiers - e.g. theological discussions, mathematics and computer programming. I usually approach learning in a purposeful manner.
I spend time in prayer, as many of the questions I have require wisdom, which only God can give. Prayer and introspection together are included in my quiet time. In addition, I find there is an emotionally settling aspect to prayer as well.
I enjoy life. Laughing is fun. I relax by reading, listening to music and interacting with my children, nephew and their friends. My wife and I also enjoy movies, musicals, concerts, and socializing with friends.
I love life. I also love God. I therefore enjoy speaking to friends, relatives and strangers about them both. |

I have had the privelege of serving at the DC Christian Reformed Church since October of 2006. I graduated from Calvin College in Grand Rapids, MI earlier that year with a degree in Music and Worship. While in Michigan I served at West Leonard CRC as their director of music and worship, at the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship as a student assistant and at Faith Alive Publishing doing music editing.
My husband, Brian and I moved out to the DC area so he could pursue a PhD at Johns Hopkins in biochemistry and molecular biology. I am also currently in a Master's program at Reformed Theological Seminary in DC, working towards a degree in Religion and Theological studies.
I love being active and being outdoors. I grew up in Colorado and enjoy hiking, skiing and especially running. Music has always been my passion. I love to listen to it, play it, and occasionally even write it! I like to travel, read good books, and spend time with my wonderful family and friends. |
