My ancestors were formed out of a glob of chemicals, completely by chance, and over a time period of billions of years I evolved into what I am today. I have no real purpose then but to be born, live, and then die.
Or...I was created and designed by an awesome, intelligent being. He did this out of a desire to have a loving, friendship with me! He made me in such a way that I can respond with love and devotion back to Him. His plan for me includes being born, living a life with meaning and purpose, and entering into everlasting life with Him upon my earthly death.
There is a "50-50" chance each of these possibilites is true. If the odds are even, which answer to the first "life question" would you choose?
Some scientists believe we started out as a glob of chemicals, and some scientists believe we were designed and created by an intelligent being...doesn't help much does it!
The best "scientific" evidence we have is the animal fossil records. They are quite extraordinary. They show that the animals were "completely formed" from one layer of earth to another when they died. If the intelligent design answer is true, the fossil record seems to back it up.
If the glob of chemical answer is true, there should be billions of fossils showing these changes over time, and leaving a record of their changing forms that would be quite easy to see. However, the evidence for the animals changing from one advanced form to another is alarmingly absent.
Of course, the most evident test of the two answers to life come from our own, everyday observations. Animals are born according to their own kind of families. Dogs give birth to dogs, cats to cats, fish to fish, and elephants to elephants! We do not see any transitional forms being born, only those after the same kind of animal as their parents. And of course, it is the same with human beings...humans give birth to humans! With these simple examples of "evidence," which "life answer" would you choose?
